摘要: A method and system utilizing backup disk drives in disk array systems. In one aspect, a disk array system includes one or more disk arrays, each including two or more disk drives. The system includes a spare disk drive, and a controller operative to assign the spare disk drive to a particular one of the disk arrays having a type different than the type of the spare disk drive in response to a failure of a disk drive of the particular disk array, such that the spare disk drive stores data from and operates in place of the failed disk drive.

摘要: A method for supporting multiple interface standards in a connection between a computer system and a Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) unit is disclosed. The method includes receiving a message indicating an initialization routine and reading a first indicator associated with a first interface standard. The method further includes loading configuration data for the first interface standard. The method further includes configuring a RAID initiator using the configuration data, if the first interface standard is identical to the actual interface standard to which the RAID unit is coupled.

摘要: A collaborative GPS navigation system and method enables nearby vehicles to share and compare planned route for improving navigation. While navigating along a planned route, a navigation device on a first vehicle may detect a specific, slower-moving second vehicle. The navigation device on the first vehicle may obtain the planned route of the second vehicle, compare the two planned routes to identify a shared route segment, and dynamically revise the planned route and route metrics according to the comparison.

摘要: Methods systems, computer-readable media, techniques and processes for crown or prosthesis manipulation in dental prosthesis design include presenting a 3D model of a multi-tooth prosthesis relative to an area to be reconstructed. An operator may manipulate one or more prosthetic teeth in that 3D model in order to alter the overall shape of the prosthesis. The techniques may also include the determination of occlusion with respect to antagonist teeth—of the entire 3D model of the prosthesis and/or of individual 3D models of prosthetic teeth in the model. The position or shape of the 3D model of the prosthesis may be modified based on the occlusion.

摘要: A method includes detecting that a first file and a second file are duplicates, and storing the first file and the second file to a target storage device. Metadata is written to the target storage device in association with the first file, wherein the metadata identifies the location of the second file that is a duplicate of the first file. Later, an application program requests a first read operation to read the first file. In response to a media error that results from the first read operation, the target storage device reads the metadata associated with the first file to identify the location of the second file, performs a second read operation to read the second file instead of the first file, and provides the second file to the application program in satisfaction of the requested first read operation.
