    摘要: Novel polyamide block copolymers are provided which comprise a central block of a soft segment derived from the residue of a polymeric polyol or polyamine joined to terminal hard segment polyamide blocks. The linkages which join the blocks are of a novel type and are the opened form of certain bis azetidine-2,4-dione rings.The block copolymers can be prepared very rapidly via anionically polymerizing lactams on to prepolymer soft segments containing terminal azetidine-2,4-dione rings.The speed with which the polymerizations can be carried out make the block copolymers particularly useful for the RIM preparation of molded parts.

    摘要: This invention provides one-pot reaction for digesting polycarbonate waste with alkylene glycol in the presence of a basic catalyst at 180° C. under normal atmospheric pressure. The digested product mixture was found to consist of bisphenol A (BPA) and monoalkoxylated and bisalkoxylated diols of BPA. Alkoxylation of BPA and monoalkoxylated diols of BPA is performed by adding urea or urea derivative (or carbonic acid ester or amine ester) to the digested product mixture at a high temperature under normal atmospheric pressure to obtain the final product, i.e., bisalkoxylated diols of BPA in high yield. The bisalkoxylated diols of BPA may be used as raw materials to synthesize polymer such as polyurethane (PU) or polyester.

    摘要: Nitro-isopropenyldiphenyl ethers are provided which can serve as a useful source of known monomer intermediates or as intermediates for the preparation of nitro-haloisopropyl substituted diphenyl ethers. The latter have been discovered to act as facile alkylating agents with phenols providing nitro-p-hydroxyphenylisopropyl substituted diphenyl ethers. When the latter compounds are reduced there are obtained the corresponding amino-p-hydroxyphenylisopropyl substituted diphenyl ethers.The polymerization of this last class of compounds with acid halides provides polyamide-esters. The polymers can be used in the manufacture of such articles as tubing, hose, bellows hose, and the like.

    摘要: Novel isocyanato-azetidinedione compounds are provided which have the formula ##STR1## wherein R and R.sub.1 can be independently selected from hydrogen and hydrocarbyl or can be joined together and along with the carbon to which they are attached represent a cycloalkane residue having 4 to 6 ring carbon atoms, y is an integer from 1 to 7 and X is a hydrocarbon radical having a valency of y plus one.The monoisocyanate compounds are used as intermediates to provide further novel azetidinedione containing derivatives in the form of azetidinedione-isocyanurates (II) and azetidinedione-urethanes (III).All three classes of compounds can be employed as acid scavenging agents for stabilizing various kinds of halogenated polymer systems. Notably, (I) and (III) form highly useful polyamide-polyureas and polyamide-polyurethanes respectively by reaction with organic polyamines.

    摘要: A preparation of aryl carbamates can be achieved readily by carbonylation of an aromatic polyamine compound with diphenyl carbonate (DPC) using a combination of an organic acid and a tertiary amine as a catalyst. Aryl carbamate can be converted into 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) by heating it at about 200 to about 230° C. in a non-polar solvent containing inhibitor such as benzoyl chloride. In another application, trans-ureation of biscarbamates with an amine or mixed amines is found to be extremely facile in a polar solvent such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and tetramethylene sulfone (TMS) in absence of any catalyst to make polyurea polymers of high molecular weights. Thus, efficient green-chemistry processes based on biscarbamates in making isocyanate products as well as urea prepolymers, urea elastomers and urea plastics have been developed in all in excellent yields without using reactive phosgene or 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate separately in the trans-ureation polymerizations.
