In a rotary electric machine with a stator elastic support structure, conductor segments of a stator winding, each which is formed into an approximate U-shape, are inserted into slots of a stator core in such a manner that leg parts of each conductor segment penetrate through the slots from one end of the stator core to the other end thereof and are connected at top ends. Further, the conductor segments are arranged to have a predetermined clearance between adjacent two thereof at both coil ends of the stator winding, and a cooling fan is disposed so that air is blown toward the clearances of the conductor segments. Accordingly, when the stator core is supported in a frame through an elastic member, a magnetic noise can be reduced while it can effectively prevent heat deterioration of the elastic member due to heat radiated from the stator core and the stator winding, in low cost.

An automotive ac generator is provided which may be used in passenger vehicles and trucks and which is designed to minimize vibrations of coils of a stator during operation. The generator includes a hollow cylindrical stator core and a plurality of electrical conductors. The stator core surrounds the periphery of the rotor and has formed therein a plurality of slots in which the electrical conductors are disposed. The electrical conductors disposed in one of the slots are connected to those in another slot through conductive bridges, respectively, to form the coils of the stator. The conductive bridges project from the opposed ends of the stator core and are so designed as to resonate outside a normal speed range of the ac generator to minimize the vibrations of the coils of the stator inducing unwanted magnetic noises.

A stator of an alternator for use in an automobile vehicle is composed of a cylindrical stator core and a stator coil disposed in slots of the stator core. The stator coil is formed by connecting plural U-shaped conductor segments, each segment including a pair of conductor portions and a turning portion connecting the pair of conductor portions. The conductor portions are inserted into the stator slots, and turning portions form a coil end extending to an axial side of the stator core. Only the turning portion of the conductor segment has a round cross-section, while other portions have a flat rectangular cross-section. Alternatively, the stator coil may be formed from a continuous conductor wire which has a round cross-section only at turning portions and a flat rectangular cross-section at other portions. The stator coil is easily curved at the turning portions having a round cross-section without damaging an insulator covering the coil, and the conductor portions having a flat rectangular cross-section improve a space factor in the stator slots, thereby increasing the alternator output.

A yoke of the stator core is held between a pair of frames. An axial extending groove-like recess is provided in the outer peripheral portion of the stator core, and a through-bolt is arranged within the recess. It is possible to provide an AC generator for vehicles at low cost in which an axial center position of the through-bolt is controlled to thereby considerably reduce a moment component when the through-bolt is axially fastened to prevent an occurrence of looseness of the through-bolt and which prevents output from lowering, is small in size, is excellent in the resistance to vibration, and is low in noise.

Since stress generated in the joining interface between the side face of the stacked body (7) and the external electrode (9) during driving can be reduced by the void (2), there are less possibilities of having the external electrode (9) peeled off from the side face of the stacked body (7) even when the element is continuously driven for a long period of time.
