Rubber compositions are disclosed for integral attachment of polymeric and metallic materials. Improved bondability is attributed to the use of a selected base rubber blended with a selected class of inorganic or organic fillers, silane compounds and vulcanizing agents such that the finished composition is provided with a specified range of Mooney viscosities. Also disclosed is a method of hose-metal fitting connection by the application of the composition. Gas- and oil-impermeability characteristics are greatly enhanced.

A process for producing hoses of laminated construction having a plastic inner tube is disclosed which comprises:- (a) extruding a thermoplastic resin on a mandrel to form an inner tube with a predetermined thickness, the mandrel being preformed of a thermoplastic resin or rubber and releasable from the inner tube, (b) laminating an outer tube integrally on the inner tube by extrusion of an unvulcanized rubber to form an integral hose body, (c) vulcanizing the hose body, (d) removing the mandrel from the vulcanized hose body. This hose is characterized by high resistance to load of impulse.

Rubber compositions are disclosed which are characterized by enhanced adhesion to hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubbers and to metallic and fibrous materials, and also be improved modulus at 100% elongation, and hence are suitable particularly for use in tires, belts, molded articles, rubber rolls and hoses. Such physical characteristics are obtained by the use of specified amounts of a selected class of sulfurs, organic peroxides and triazine compounds combined with selected sulfur-curable base rubbers.

Impermeability is greatly improved with respect to refrigerant gases and fuel oils.

A hose for refrigerant fluid or fuel oil service which comprises a core tube, a reinforcing layer and an outer cover, the core tube being of a composite structure having an inner plastic peripheral wall, an intermediate plastic peripheral wall and an outer rubbery peripheral wall. The inner and intermediate walls are formed of a selected class of polyamides and polyolefins, whereby the hose is rendered highly impermeable to fluid and moisture, greatly resistant to stress cracking and sufficiently flexible.
