A thermoplastic elastomer laminate comprising: a base fabric, a polyolefin intermediate layer formed on said fabric comprising a polyolefin, at least a part of which is modified by grafting with at least one monomer selected from unsaturated carboxylic acids and derivatives thereof, and a thermoplastic elastomer surface layer formed on said intermediate layer comprising a thermoplastic elastomer. The surface layer is comprised of a composition comprising: a polyolefin resin and an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer rubber, in which only said copolymer rubber is, or both said copolymer rubber and at least a part of said polyolefin resin are partially crosslinked. The product is attractive as an artificial leather.

Molded articles of thermoplastic elastomer obtained in accordance with the present invention comprise a molded product prepared from a thermoplastic elastomer containing a partially cross-linked product of ethylene/.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber and a polyolefin resin, a primer layer containing at least one compound selected from the group of saturated polyesters and chlorinated polyolefins and formed on the surface of said molded article, and a topcoat layer containing at least one compound selected from the group of saturated polyesters, acrylic ester resins, polyvinyl chloride and polyisocyanate (provided that the topcoat layer contains at least the acrylic ester resin when the primer layer consists only of the saturated polyester) and formed on said primer layer. The molded articles of the invention mentioned above have such excellent surface characteristics that the surface thereof is hard to get a scratch, excellent in appearance as well as in touch and, moreover, is hard to subject to attack by hydrocarbon solvents.

A multilayered molding is disclosed, which has a base molding outer layer mainly composed of a partial crosslinking type substance A obtained from polyolefin resin and ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber or a mixture B of polyolefin resin and ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer rubber or both. The outermost layer is in direct contact with and forms a lamination with an inner intermediate layer or a base molding composed of a polyethylene resin, for instance, and is firmly bonded to the outermost layer. A method of manufacturing such multilayered molding is also disclosed, in which a composite sheet of the thermoplastic elastomer with or without the intermediate layer is preliminarily heated, followed by being suction held in close contact with a mold cavity inner surface, thus forming a surface layer. The mold is then clamped, and fluidized and plasticized polyolefin resin is injected to produce the molding. The polyolefin resin may also be injected prior to the clamping.

An olefin thermoplastic elastomer composition comprises a crystalline polyolefin resin (A) and an ethylene/&agr;-olefin/nonconjugated polyene copolymer rubber (B), and optionally a softener (C) and/or an inorganic filler (D), in a specific ratio. The copolymer rubber (B) is prepared by the use of a metallocene catalyst and comprises ethylene, an &agr;-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and a nonconjugated polyene. This composition ca provide molded products of more excellent tensile strength, elongation at break, elastomeric properties (elongation set, permanent compression set, etc.), heat resistance and low-temperature properties than the conventional non-crosslinked olefin thermoplastic elastomers, even if the composition is in the non-crosslinked form. The composition in the partially or completely crosslinked form can provided molded products of more excellent low-temperature properties, tensile strength, elongation at break and elastomeric properties than the conventional vulcanized rubbers.
