Abstract:
A bicycle tire provides a first sidewall and a second sidewall each including an interior portion and an exterior portion. A rim attaching portion is connected to an inner circumference of each of the first sidewall and the second sidewall. A tire tread portion is connected to an outer circumference of the first sidewall and the second sidewall. A portion of the first sidewall and the second sidewall proximate to the inner circumference of the first sidewall and the second sidewall has a varying thickness.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a DNA fragment encoding alkaline liquefying α-amylase, recombinant DNA containing the DNA fragment, a transformed microorganism harboring the recombinant DNA, as well as a method for producing alkaline liquefying α-amylase using the transformant. The method of the present invention enables mass production of alkaline liquefying α-amylase useful as a detergent component. The present invention is directed to a liquefying alkaline alphα-amylase, and a DNA encoding for the same and functional fragments thereof.
Abstract:
A bicycle pedal assembly includes a spindle inserted through a thin bearing-less pedal body. A medial portion of the spindle is inserted substantially through a hollow bolt with an internal passageway. One or more bearings are disposed outside the pedal body and in the hollow bolt to facilitate rotation of the spindle with respect to a crank arm. The bolt is screwed into a bore of the crank arm. Accordingly, the medial portion of the spindle extends transversely through the width of the crank arm.
Abstract:
Axial adjustments of an aberration corrector are made roughly. Whenever plural values of voltage are applied to an electrode in the first stage of the corrector, a different value of voltage is applied to the electrodes in the stage whose center is passed through by the reference orbit in the aberration corrector. At this time, a scanning deflector scans the electron beam over a specimen, producing a scanned image signal. Based on the scanned image signal, the amounts of positional deviations of the image are calculated. Based on the calculated amounts of positional deviations and on the voltages applied to the electrode in the first stage, an optimum value of voltage is calculated and fed back to the electrode in the first stage of the corrector.
Abstract:
A DNA fragment coding for alkaline pullulanase, which contains about 6.3 Kb base pairs and has a restriction map shown in FIG. 2, a recombinant vector containing the DNA fragment, and a microorganism carrying the vector. Also disclosed is a method of preparing alkaline pullulanase which comprises culturing a transformant microorganism which has been transformed with a recombinant vector containing a DNA fragment coding for alkaline pullulanase, having a restriction enzyme map shown in FIG. 2 and having about 6.3 Kb base pairs. According to the method of the invention, alkaline pullulanase which is useful as a component of detergents can be mass-produced in a low cost.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel enzyme called alkaline proteinase K-16 that is characterized as having an optimum pH in an alkaline range, and stability in the presence of various surface active agents, such as sodium linear alkylbenzene sulfonate, sodium polyoxyethylene alkyl sulfate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium .alpha.-olefin sulfonate, sodium alkyl sulfonate, and .alpha.-sulfo-fatty acid ester. The present invention further provides for a microorganism producing the novel alkaline proteinase, and a process for producing the novel alkaline proteinase. Alkaline proteinase K-16 of the present invention exhibits an excellent action against insoluble proteins and maintains sufficient activity over a wide temperature range and in the presence of surface active agents thus providing a use as an enzyme for detergents.
Abstract:
Alkaline cellulases having an optimum pH in an alkaline range and being stable over a broad pH range are produced by microorganisms which belong to the genus Bacillus and grow in a neutral medium. These alkaline cellulases are rarely inhibited by ingredients ordinarily incorporated in detergents such as surface active agents, proteinases and chelating agents, so that they can be conveniently used in detergent compositions.
Abstract:
Provide is a moisture control constructional material which has improved moisture control performance and strength and which is easily produced, and a method for producing the same. The moisture control construction material is produced by forming a raw material that contains aluminum hydroxide and talc, and firing the formed raw material at 700° C. to 1100° C. The raw material contains 20% to 95% by weight aluminum hydroxide and 5% to 80% by weight of the talc-like material. The raw material may further contain at least one of clay and bentonite and/or montmorillonite.
Abstract:
A bicycle pedal assembly includes an axle formed integrally with a pedal body. The integral axle extends from a medial side of a pedal body through an axle connector coupled to a crank arm. The axle connector may be a separate hollow bolt screwed into a bore of the crank arm. The axle connector may house one or more bearings to facilitate rotation of the axle. The interior of the cage of the pedal body may include a variety of structures, such as bridges, or no structures, e.g., an open space, since the proximally extending integral axle need not extend across the width of the pedal body.
Abstract:
A bicycle pedal assembly includes a channel-free pedal body having cross members which define holes for receiving an axle rod. The holes are axially aligned and formed with a shape which conforms to a profile of the axle rod to rotationally fix the pedal body to the rod. A first hollow bolt includes an externally threaded portion to mate with a left crank arm. A second hollow bolt includes a reversed externally threaded portion to mate with a right crank arm. Each of a pair of identical axles may be joined to either the first or second hollow bolt. Each pedal assembly in interchangeable between the left and right crank arms.
