摘要: In an information recording/reproducing apparatus for effecting recording/reproduction of information using a probe, a recording bias is applied to between a recording medium and the probe to record information on the recording medium. A current flowing through the recording medium and the probe is detected. The detected current is determined whether it exceeds a predetermined value. When the detected current exceeds the predetermined value, the application of the recording bias is stopped after a predetermined time.

摘要: A recording/reproduction of information is effected using a probe electrode arranged to oppose a recording medium. A distance between the probe electrode and the recording medium is controlled by applying a voltage therebetween. A current flowing through the probe electrode upon application of the voltage is detected while the scanning is performed with the probe electrode over the recording medium. A correlation between a signal output according to the current detection and a reference signal is obtained to produce a reproduction signal from which a noise component due to an influence of an atomic step present on a surface of the recording medium is removed. The reproduction of information is effected in accordance with the generated reproduction signal.

摘要: A non-contact-type atomic microscope including a plurality of probes differing in resonance frequency, an actuator for vibrating the plurality of probes simultaneously, and a drive signal generating circuit for generating a drive signal for the actuator. The drive signal contains a predetermined frequency for vibrating each of the plurality probes. Also, there is a method for observing a surface shape of a sample by using a plurality of probes. The method includes a step of vibrating the plurality of probes simultaneously with a common actuator in a vicinity of their resonance frequencies. A signal for driving the actuator contains a predetermined frequency for vibrating each of the probes.

摘要: A scanning probe microscope is provided with a probe, a scanning device, a detecting device and an output device. The probe is disposed to face the surface of a sample. The scanning device two-dimensionally scans the surface of the sample using the probe. A signal corresponding to the structure of the sample is detected from the probe by the detecting device. From the signal detected in the detecting device, an observation image of the sample is output by the output device. The apparatus is further provided with a correcting device for correcting the scan by the scanning device so that the observation image output from the outputting device is not shifted.
