It is an object of the present invention to provide a contents reproducing device which can perform an intermittent operation with improved responsiveness to user request. The contents reproducing device according to the present invention includes: an input operation unit (1100), a system state managing unit (1210), a system information storing unit (1220), a contents reproduction control unit (A) (1230), a state after next candidate extracting unit (1240), a contents reproduction control determining unit (1250), and a contents reproducing unit (1300). The contents reproduction control determining unit (1250) determines whether or not a candidate related to the contents reproduction control is in the state after next candidates extracted by the state after next candidate extracting unit (1240). Therefore, the contents reproducing device according to the present invention can improve responsiveness to the user request by shortening the cycle of the intermittent operation of the contents reproducing unit (1300) when it is determined that there is a possibility that a user request related to the contents reproduction control is inputted, and by lengthening the cycle of the intermittent operation of the contents reproducing unit (1300) when it is determined that there is no possibility that a user request related to the contents reproduction control is inputted.

A data transmission apparatus for sequentially transmitting data in units of packets each containing transmission data to the receiving end. The apparatus including a reception unit receiving the transmission data as an input signal, a packet formation unit receiving the transmission data, and forming an uncompressed packet in which predetermined transmission data is stored as uncompressed data, and a compressed packet in which at least a portion of transmission data that follows the predetermined transmission data is compressed and stored as compressed data. The apparatus also including a reference information management unit holding and managing as reference information related to the uncompressed packet, and a transmission unit transmitting the packets formed by the packet formation unit. The packet formation unit forming compressed data to be stored in a compressed packet, based on the transmission data of the uncompressed packet and the reference information.

A packet compressor 12 operates under a reliable mode or an optimistic mode. A mode determination unit 31 counts the number of ACK packets or NACK packets received by a unit time X by an ACK/NACK packet receiver 14. When the counted number of NACK packets is larger than a predetermined value Y, the mode determination unit 31 switches the operation mode of the packet compressor 12 to the reliable mode. When the counted number of ACK packets is larger than a predetermined value Z, the mode determination unit 31 switches the operation mode of the packet compressor 12 to the optimistic mode.

A disk tray includes a storage concave portion that is to store a disk-shaped recording medium. The disk tray is supported by a carrying mechanism to thereby be carried from an opening portion provided to a front face of an apparatus main body (main body of an apparatus for storing the disk tray) over a range between the inside and outside of the apparatus main body, the disk tray comprising. The disk tray further includes a buffer material provided on a peripheral surface of the storage concave portion that stores the disk-shaped recording medium. Thereby, the disk-shaped recording medium, such as an optical disk, is restrained from being crushed even when being rotationally driven at high speed.

Received packets are preserved in a receiving buffer 102; a playback decision section 103 decides whether the preserved packets are in time for the playback time or not; the playback orders and the preservation addresses of the preserved packets which have been decided to be in time are memorized in a pointer 104 for playback; the preserved packets are read and played back according to the pointer 104 for playback. And, the playback orders and the preservation addresses of the preserved packets are memorized in a pointer 106 for preservation; and a media conversion section 107 reads the preserved packets according to the pointer 106 for preservation, and memorizes them after conversion into packets with a form by which the packets may be memorized in a preservation memory 108.
