摘要: A method for efficiently utilizing radio resources by reducing a size of a PDU of an RLC layer in a mobile communication system supporting a VoIP service. In the method, an RLC PDU is framed without inserting information regarding a start point and an end point of a voice packet, or existence or absence of padding, such that a size of overhead according to transmission of the voice packet can be reduced. Consequently, restricted radio resources can be efficiently used.

摘要: An apparatus and method for selectively combining broadcast data packets from a plurality of cells in a user equipment (UE). A selective combiner stores a received broadcast data packet in a buffer if a sequence number of the broadcast data packet received from the plurality of cells does not fall within a reception window, and stores the received broadcast data packet in the buffer if a sequence number of the received broadcast data packet falls within the reception window but has not been stored in the buffer. The selective combiner updates the reception window if a sequence number of the received broadcast data packet does not fall within the reception window, and discards the received broadcast data packet if a sequence number of the received broadcast data packet falls within the reception window but has been stored in the buffer.

摘要: A method for dividing MBMS control information provided to UEs for an MBMS service into three types and separately transmitting the divided MBMS control information according to their types. The MBMS control information is divided into first MBMS control information that is periodically transmitted, and second MBMS control information that is aperiodically transmitted due to occurrence of an event. The periodically transmitted first MBMS control information is divided into MBMS control information that is transmitted at a first periodic interval and MBMS control information that is transmitted at a second periodic interval. The first periodic interval is shorter than the second periodic interval to enable a UE desiring to receive a particular MBMS service to preferentially receive MBMS status information in advance of MBMS RB information.

摘要: A method and apparatus performs handover from an OFDM-based E-UMTS system to a CDMA-based UMTS system. A UE in communication with a PDN via the E-UMTS system, measures signal strength of the UMTS system, and sends a measurement report message indicating the measured signal strength to the E-UMTS system. A radio access network (E-RAN) of the E-UMTS system, determines whether to perform handover from the E-UMTS system to the UMTS system based on the measured signal strength. If the handover is to be performed, a core network (E-CN) of the E-UMTS system generates a PDP context and an MM context for the UE in response to a handover request from the E-RAN. The E-CN sets up a data tunnel for the UE to a GGSN of the UMTS system using the PDP/MM context. After setting up the data tunnel, the E-CN sends to the UE a handover command message including information on a radio bearer (RB) to be used by the UE to access the UMTS system. The UE accesses the UMTS system using the RB information. After accessing the UMTS system, the UE forwards user data for the UE via a data transmission path composed of the E-CN, the data tunnel, a SGSN, and a RAN of the UMTS system, between the PDN and the UE.

摘要: A control message transmitting/receiving method in an MBMS-supporting mobile communication system. In the present invention, an RNC periodically transmits control messages related to MBMS RB setup to UEs. Thus, although a UE initially fails to receive an intended MBMS service, it can set up an MBMS RB by receiving a related retransmitted control message. Also, the RNC periodically provides information about ongoing MBMS services on a cell basis so that a UE can decide whether its requested MBMS service is in progress and request information required to set up an MBMS RB for the MBMS service to the RNC by individual signaling.

摘要: Disclosed is a method for resuming header decompression by receiving multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS) packet data having compressed headers in a mobile communication system providing the MBMS. The method includes the steps of detecting a moving of user equipment (UE) receiving the MBMS into a new cell from an old cell, copying and storing old header decompression context information used in the old cell, initializing a dynamic part to decompress headers of packet data for the MBMS and waiting for an IR-DYN packet until the IR-DYN packet has been received in the UE, in order to update the old header decompression information, creating a new header decompression context through updating the old header decompression information by using the IR-DYN packet when the IR-DYN packet has been received in the UE, and decompressing the headers of the packet data for the MBMS transmitted from the new cell by using the new header decompression context.
