    摘要: N-chloro chloroalkanamides or chloro hydrocarbyl substituted alkanamides of the formula ##STR1## where R.sub.1 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R.sub.4 is alkylene or chloroalkylene of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, n is 0 or 1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen, chlorine, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkaryl of up to 8 carbon atoms or aryl of up to 8 carbon atoms, have been found useful as herbicides. Preferably n is 0 and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen chlorine, phenyl or alkyl or 1 to 2 carbon atoms. Most preferably R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are hydrogen or chlorine.

    摘要: A method for preserving wood which comprises contacting the wood with a complex of a cationic monomeric or polymeric biocide and an anionic monomeric or polymeric biocide. Insoluble complexes may solubilized in water in the form of an emulsion or microemulsion by adding a nonionic and/or amphoteric surfactant and/or aqueous cosolvent to the complex. Suitable cationic biocides are those that contain functionalities such as amidine, guanidine, biguanide, quaternary, phosphonium, sulfonium and gemini quaternary functionalities. Suitable anionic biocides include: phenolics; saturated, unsaturated or substituted carboxylates; organomercaptide; tetrathiocarbonates; cyanodithioimidocarbamates; dithiodialkylcarbamates; anionic oxides of transition metals; aminocarboxylic acids; aminoorganophosphonic acids; monoalkyl phosphates; dialkylphosphates; and substituted or unsubstituted 2-hydroxy-2,4,6-cycloheptatrianone.

    摘要: What is provided herein is a three-dimensional water disinfectant composition comprising the reaction product of a cross-linked, anti-microbial organosilicon quaternary ammonium salt and a macroporous cationic exchange resin. The cross-linked organosilicon quaternary ammonium salt suitably comprises about 2 to 60% by weight of the composition and the ion-exchange resin about 40 to 98% by weight of the composition. In a preferred form of the invention, the organosilicon compound constitutes about 20 to 40% by weight of the composition. Such compositions exhibit broad spectrum anti-bacteria activity including gram-negative activity, and are active algicidally in preventing the growth of algae in the water. The ion-exchange resin preferably is either a weak or strong cationic macroreticular ion-exchange resin. Methods of making such compositions also are described herein.

    摘要: A polymeric biocidal salt is prepared from two components. The first component comprises a biocidal anionic or cationic monomeric, dendrimeric or polymeric ion. The second component comprises a dendrimeric or polymeric anion or cation having insignificant biocidal activity and a number average molecular weight of at least about 500. The second component will be cationic in nature when the first component is anionic in nature and anionic in nature when the first component is cationic in nature. The salt is further characterized as partially dissolving when exposed to an aqueous medium, thereby: (a) releasing sufficient biocidal ion to exceed the MIC or MBIC of a target bacteria sought to be controlled; and (b) leaving a reservoir of undissolved salt capable of being further dissolved and releasing additional biocidal ion as the biocidal ion is consumed or is otherwise removed from the environment encompassing the target bacteria.
