Abstract: Systems and methods for air sanitization. The system includes a device configured to create aerosolized droplets of an antimicrobial formulation with an average particle size sufficiently small so that the formulation provides at least a 3-log reduction against Staphylococcus aureus or another target microbe within 60 minutes. The antimicrobial formulation includes one or more organic acids (e.g., lactic acid) and optionally one or more diols (e.g., 1,2-hexanediol). Where both are included, the organic acid(s) and diol(s) may have a vapor pressure of at least 0.02 Pa. Where just the organic acid is included, the organic acid has a vapor pressure of at least 0.10 Pa. The formulation may further include a buffer, a surfactant, water, a fragrance, etc. The formulation may be delivered as an aerosol, using a pump sprayer, a mister, a nebulizer, a vaporizer, a cold fogger, a thermal fogger, an ultrasonic dispensing device, an electrostatic sprayer, etc.

Abstract: Methods for forming multi-layer substrates including top and bottom surface layers and a melt softened thermoplastic material layer between the exterior surface layers, where the thermoplastic material includes polyethylene or has a tan delta value of 0.2 to 0.4 within the temperature range of 100° F.−350° F. The 3 (or more) layers are assembled, and heated, melt softening the thermoplastic material, causing bonding of the thermoplastic layer to the exterior surface layers. A cleaning composition may be loaded onto the multi-layer substrate, where a fluid pathway through the melted thermoplastic material allows the cleaning composition to travel between the surface layers. Adhesion between the surface layers and the thermoplastic layer is provided by the thermoplastic material itself, which bonds to groups of fibers in the surface layers. The process does not require chemical adhesives, any processing water, drying, or the like, so as to be possible with low capital investment.

Abstract: A system includes an anti-allergen formulation and a device that generates droplets of the formulation to be delivered to an air environment. The aqueous formulation includes an organic acid having a vapor pressure between 0.001 Pa and 172 Pa and an aqueous solubility of at least 24.99 grams organic acid per 100 grams water, both at room temperature and standard pressure. The device can generate droplets of the formulation having a median particle size (Dv50) of no greater than 120 micrometers. The formulation delivered as droplets in an air environment can provide a statistically significant reduction, over a control, in one or more airborne allergens as measured by an enzyme linked immunoassay. In addition, the formulation delivered as droplets in the air environment can be effective to neutralize greater than 50% of one or more airborne allergens present in the air environment.

Abstract: System and methods for dispensing a residual surface sanitization or disinfection formulation on a surface. The system may include a formulation and a device. The device includes a sprayer configured to spray the formulation onto a surface as a coating. The spray has a Dv50 particle size distribution of less than about 150 μm and the coating has a residual coating coverage efficiency of at least 30 cm2/mm2. Additionally, the coating covers a majority of the surface and provides a durable coating on the surface for a time period therefore providing residual sanitization or disinfection to the surface over the time period.
