    摘要: In an exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine which is provided with a selective reduction type catalyst disposed in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, a reducing agent supply device for supplying an ammonia derived reducing agent to a portion of the exhaust passage at the upstream side of the selective reduction type catalyst, and a mixing device disposed in a portion of the exhaust passage at the upstream side of the selective reduction type catalyst and at the downstream side of the reducing agent supply device, the present invention has a problem to remove solid matter derived from the reducing agent, which is adhered to or deposited on the mixing device, in a suitable manner. In order to solve this problem, the present invention has a temperature raising device disposed in a portion of the exhaust passage upstream of said mixing device so as to blow a flame to said mixing device.

    摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus for purifying exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine having four cylinders. The apparatus comprises: an exhaust pipe provided with two entrance pipes, each of which is communicated with two engine cylinders, respectively, and a joint joining the entrance pipes together; a three way catalyzer for converting the exhaust gas disposed at a position downstream of the joint; a secondary air device for supplying secondary air into the exhaust pipe device, the secondary air device being communicated with the first entrance pipe; an air switching device, the entrance of which is communicated with the secondary air device and the exit of which is communicated with the second entrance pipe, for switching secondary air, and; a device for detecting the operating characteristics of the engine and for actuating the air switching device.Utilizing this apparatus, while the engine is cool, a sufficient amount of secondary air is continuously supplied into all of the entrance pipes and can overcome the increase of HC and CO emissions caused by the operation of the choke in the carburetor. On the other hand, when the engine is warmed up, only secondary air is supplied into the first entrance pipe and this causes an oscillation of the secondary air fuel ratio in the three way catalyzer. As a result, a high converting efficiency can be obtained.

    摘要: A valve controls mutual communication between first, second, and third spaces, and includes a first valve seat controlled by a first valve element communicating between the first space and the second space, and a second valve seat controlled by a second valve element communicating between the first space and the third space. The first valve member is biased towards the first valve seat, and the second valve member is biased away from the second valve seat with less biasing force. A temperature sensitive actuator includes first and second actuator members and is supported between the first actuator member bearing on the first valve element and the second actuator member bearing on the second valve element. This actuator, with rise in the temperature of the fluid generally around it, moves the first and second actuator members with respect to one another so as to exert by the first actuator member a force on the first valve member which urges it away from the first valve seat, and so as to exert by the second actuator member an equal force on the second valve member which urges it towards the second valve seat. Thus communication between the first and second spaces is definitely interrupted, before communication commences to be established between the first and third spaces.

    摘要: A fuel injection system (10) with reduced pressure pulsations in the fuel discharge paths from the injectors is disclosed. A high-pressure fuel accumulated in a common rail is injected by a plurality of the injectors. Each injector includes a high-pressure chamber for accumulating the fuel, a back pressure chamber into which the high-pressure fuel is introduced from the high-pressure chamber and a nozzle body arranged in the high pressure chamber. Each injector closes the fuel injection port by pushing down the nozzle body under the pressure of the high-pressure fuel introduced into the back pressure chamber. The fuel injection port is opened, on the other hand, by discharging the high-pressure fuel from the back pressure chamber through the fuel discharge path of each injector. A variable-area orifice (6) is arranged in the discharge path (55) downstream of the confluence at which all the fuel discharge paths from the injectors are merged with each other. The higher the fuel pressure in the discharge paths, the larger the open area of the variable-area orifice. Thus, a pressure pulsation in the fuel discharge paths from the injectors is reduced.

    摘要: A cooling system for an engine which has head and block cooling jackets and a radiator, including head and block coolant pumps, a block recirculation conduit from the block outlet to the block inlet, a main recirculation conduit from the head outlet to the head inlet via the radiator, a first junction providing sometimes communication between upstream parts of the block recirculation conduit and the main recirculation conduit, a second junction providing communication between a downstream part of the block recirculation conduit and a part of the main recirculation conduit at the downstream side of the radiator, and a mechanical non-electrical control valve assembly which is incorporated in the first junction and controls the allocation of head flow and block flow between the block recirculation conduit and the main recirculation conduit, according to the temperature of the coolant leaving the block jacket. The control valve assembly, when this temperature is below a first value, directs both head and block flow through the block recirculation conduit, bypassing the radiator; when this temperature is between the first value and a second value higher than the first value, directs the head flow through the main recirculation conduit, but directs the block flow through the block recirculation conduit; and when this temperature is above the second valve, directs both head and block flow through the main recirculation conduit.

    摘要: A fuel injection system (10) with reduced pressure pulsations in the fuel discharge paths from the injectors is disclosed. A high-pressure fuel accumulated in a common rail is injected by a plurality of the injectors. Each injector includes a high-pressure chamber for accumulating the fuel, a back pressure chamber into which the high-pressure fuel is introduced from the high-pressure chamber and a nozzle body arranged in the high pressure chamber. Each injector closes the fuel injection port by pushing down the nozzle body under the pressure of the high-pressure fuel introduced into the back pressure chamber. The fuel injection port is opened, on the other hand, by discharging the high-pressure fuel from the back pressure chamber through the fuel discharge path of each injector. A variable-area orifice (6) is arranged in the discharge path (55) downstream of the confluence at which all the fuel discharge paths from the injectors are merged with each other. The higher the fuel pressure in the discharge paths, the larger the open area of the variable-area orifice. Thus, a pressure pulsation in the fuel discharge paths from the injectors is reduced.
