Provided in another aspect is a hydrosilylation curative composition comprising a silicone hydride having the formula wherein H is hydrogen, and each R′ is independently selected from hydrogen and C1 to C10 alkyl groups; R″ is selected from C1 to C10 alkyl groups; n is an integer from 5 to 45; and m is an integer from 5 to 45.

    摘要: This invention relates to a soft thermoplastic vulcanizate composition comprising: a) from about 2-10 wt %, based upon total polymer content weight a)+b)+c), of a thermoplastic polyethylene or polypropylene homopolymer, or ethylene-propylene copolymer, or copolymer that includes ethylene or propylene together with one or more C4 to C20 α-olefins, said thermoplastic having at least 25% crystallinity by DSC; b) from about 15 to about 36 wt. %, based upon total polymer content weight a)+b)+c), of an ethylene-α-olefin random or block copolymer thermoplastic having less than 5% crystallinity by DSC; c) from about 60 to about 80 wt. %, based upon total polymer content weight a)+b)+c), of a cross-linked elastomer; and d) from about 50 to about 65 wt %, based upon total composition weight a)+b)+c)+d), of a process oil; wherein said thermoplastic vulcanizate composition has a Shore A Hardness of less than 35. The invention compositions may also comprise from about 0 to about 40 wt. %, based upon the total composition weight, of conventional additives.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method of preparing a thermoplastic vulcanizate comprising: a) melt processing a blend of thermoplastic polymer and vulcanizable elastomer in a multi-screw extruder having at least three intermeshing screws, wherein said screws have 3-170 mixing zones, and said extruder having a L/D ratio of 15-100, and a screw profile that has 3 to 17 meshes per L/D; b) adding at least one curing agent to the melt-processed blend of a) in at least one location in the first 46% of the length of said extruder, or adding at least one curing agent to the melt-processed blend of a) in a second extruder, so as to initiate curing of the blend: and, curing at least partially said elastomer by reactive melt processing. Improved processing, reaction kinetics and efficiencies are achieved, as well as thermoplastic vulcanizate products having decreased weight gain when placed in mineral oils.
