    摘要: An information recording and reproducing apparatus and an information storage disc for use therewith. The information storage disc has ID storage areas formed in predetermined locations in the radial direction of the disc, the ID storage areas storing either sector or track numbers previously and magnetically. In this setup, if the read head is dislodged from the center line of a given track, the read head still reads the sector number correctly. The information recording and reproducing apparatus has the read head and the write head arranged so that they are positioned on a given intermediate track in a substantially aligned manner. With the write head positioned on a given track, the read head is dislodged from that track only by a negligible distance. This allows the read head to read sector and track numbers unfailingly from the disc.

    摘要: In an information recording/reproducing apparatus, frame synchronization is speedily performed when initialization is executed or the recording surfaces are switched, and the reliability of recorded data is improved. Segment IDs, each being formed by coding an information word representing a rotational angle measured from a rotational angle origin, are provided within the respective servo areas in such a manner that they are spaced equally in the track direction. While initial synchronization is performed, frame synchronization is established based on the information obtained by decoding the segment ID. This eliminates the need for detecting a home index pattern, thereby speedily performing the initial synchronizing operation. After initial synchronization is achieved, it is constantly monitored whether a frame is not out of synchronization based on the information obtained by decoding the segment ID. When it is detected that a frame is out of synchronization, a suitable operation is performed to minimize the destruction of recorded data.

    摘要: A current measurement apparatus includes multiple GMR elements and a calculation unit. The multiple GMR elements each include a pinned magnetic layer having a pinned magnetization direction, and a free magnetic layer having a magnetization direction to be changed by an external magnetic field. The calculation unit obtains the magnitude of a current to be detected, from outputs of the multiple GMR elements. The multiple GMR elements are disposed in ring shape around a conductor through which the current to be detected flows, and are electrically connected so as to form a series variable resistor by using the multiple GMR elements. The magnetization directions of the pinned magnetic layers are pinned in the same direction when viewed from an extension direction of the conductor at each of the positions of the elements.

A plurality of first openings (71h), a plurality of second openings (72h) and a plurality of third openings (73h) are formed respectively in the first layer, the second layer and the third layer. The first openings, the second openings and the third openings communicate with each other, thereby constituting mask openings (75). The opening dimension of the second openings is larger than the opening dimension of the first openings and is larger than the opening dimension of the third openings. With this configuration, it is possible to prevent reduction of the opening dimension of the mask openings or clogging of the mask openings due to the vapor deposition particles adhering to the mask openings.

The deposition mask includes a frame 65; a plurality of mask layers 70 provided in the frame so as to overlap each other; and a support layer 71 provided between the mask layers 70. Each of the mask layers 70 is formed by arranging a plurality of mask wires 72 in a stripe pattern in a tensioned state, and the support layer 71 is formed by arranging a plurality of support wires 74 in a tensioned state so as to cross the mask wires 72. A plurality of gaps 73 in each of the plurality of mask layers 70 overlap each other to form a plurality of through gaps 73a that linearly extend through all of the plurality of mask layers 70. The openings K are formed by the through gaps 73a.

In a deposition apparatus 50, the deposition mask 601 is held in a fixed relative positional relation with a deposition source 53 by a mask unit 55. In the case of forming the thin film 3 in a stripe pattern on the substrate 10 by the deposition apparatus 50, deposition particles are sequentially deposited on the substrate 10 while relatively moving the substrate 10 along a scanning direction with a gap H being provided between the substrate 10 and the deposition mask 601.
