    摘要: In an internal combustion engine with two cylinder banks, each cylinder bank having a cylinder head mounting thereon a valve operating device enabling both valve timing and valve lift characteristic to be varied, each valve operating device drives an engine valve through an eccentric cam, a substantially ring-shaped link, a rocker arm, a rod-shaped link, and a rockable cam, by rotation of a drive shaft. A control shaft varies the attitude of the rocker arm via a control cam by rotary motion thereof, in order to change a valve lift characteristic of the engine valve. As viewed in the same axial direction, a lifting direction of the rockable cam relative to a rotational direction of the drive shaft is the same in the two cylinder banks.

    摘要: In a VVA apparatus for an internal combustion engine wherein the position of contact of a cam face of a VO cam with respect to the top face of a valve lifter is changed in accordance with a change in a rocking fulcrum of a rocker arm to alter the valve lift, the maximum valve lift is obtained in a first rotated position of a control shaft where an axis of a control cam is adjacent to a driving shaft. The minimum valve lift is obtained in a second rotated position of the control shaft where the axis of the control cam is positioned near a first pivotal point of the rocker arm and a crank arm with respect to a first line connecting the axis of the control shaft and the axis of the control cam upon the maximum valve lift.

The first and second swing cams are provided with identical swing motion characteristic with respect to a rotation angle of the drive cam through the first and second motion transmission mechanisms. The first swing cam and the first valve actuating member cooperate with each other to provide a valve lift amount of the engine valve for the first group of cylinders with respect to a swing angle of the first swing cam which is identical to a valve lift amount of the engine valve for the second group of cylinders with respect to a swing angle of the second swing cam.

    摘要: A valve operating device for an engine having at least two engine valves per cylinder, the valve operating device enabling both valve timing and valve-lift characteristic to be varied depending on engine operating conditions, includes a camshaft, at least one cam pair including a low-speed cam and a high-speed cam, each operating an associated valve of at least two engine valves included in a cylinder, a main rocker shaft supported on a cylinder head, a sub rocker shaft, and at least one rocker arm set. The rocker arm set includes a low-speed rocker arm having a first follower driven by the low-speed cam and oscillatingly supported by the main rocker shaft and mounting thereon the sub rocker shaft, and a high-speed rocker arm having a second follower driven by the high-speed cam oscillatingly supported by the sub rocker shaft. The second follower is closely juxtaposed to the first follower and located within a dead space defined in the outside of the engine valves included in the engine cylinder. The at least one rocker arm set includes two adjacent rocker arm sets disposed between the associated two cylinders adjoining to each other. One of the adjacent rocker arm sets has a symmetric shape with respect to the other. The low-speed rocker arm included in the one rocker arm set and the low-speed rocker arm included in the other rocker arm set are supported on the same divided rocker shaft member.

A position of rotation of a control shaft, variably adjusting the attitude of the motion converter, is set, so that, at a peak lift during a valve opening period, an angle γ2 between an extension line of a line segment connecting a first fulcrum corresponding to a drive-eccentric-cam center and a second fulcrum provided on a rocker arm and a line segment connecting the second fulcrum and a third fulcrum provided on the rocker arm at a position different from the second fulcrum at a middle working-angle control mode is less than both an angle γ1 between the two line segments at a minimum working-angle control mode and an angle γ3 between the two line segments at a maximum working-angle control mode.
