Abstract:
The invention relates to an energy converter cell, consisting of a negative metal electrode, preferably a tin electrode, a positive electrode consisting of graphite and an electrolyte that is positioned between the electrodes and is in contact with the latter, the electrolyte containing in the charged state a manganate(IV) salt that is dissolved in water and an alkali hydroxide. The energy converter cell forms a galvanic element, which can be discharged by delivering electrical energy to an ohmic consumer resistor that is connected to the electrodes and can be charged by a supply of thermal energy. In addition, supplied electrical energy can be electrochemically stored in the cell.

Abstract:
A method and an arrangement for cutting cold pilgered tubes during rolling on a cold pilger rolling mill with reciprocating rolling stand and with intermittent advance and/or intermittent rotation of the tube in the area of one of the two dead centers of the rolling stand. The method includes imparting on the tube along a distance range thereof behind the rolling zone a constant rotation corresponding to the average speed of rotation of the tube such that the tube is temporarily elastically twisted. The distance range is selected in accordance with parameters determined by the material and dimensions of the tube. The tube is cut within the distance range during the constant rotation. The arrangement for carrying out the method includes a cutting unit with a cutting tool and a clamping sleeve which clamps the tube circumference and is constantly driven for rotation. The cutting unit is arranged at a distance from the rolling stand which facilitates elastic torsion of the tube.
Abstract:
The Radio Data System (RDS) protocol promulgated by the European Broadcasting Union provides for alternate frequencies (AF) for the same broadcast. Receivers periodically switch over to such an alternate frequency, leading to momentary crackling noises. In a radio receiver having a device for temporary switchover from a received frequency to some other frequency, substitute signals are inserted into the audio signals that are interrupted during the temporary switchover. The substitute signals are formed from the audio signals before and optionally also after the temporary switchover.
Abstract:
A 2-roll piercing mill for producing hollow blocks from a rolled material comprising high alloy steels has guide tools for the rolled material. The guide tools are arranged for closing a reforming zone of the piercing mill transversely with respect to the rolling axis as the hollow block is pierced. In this arrangement, each of the guide tools includes a base body made of a carrier material and a working face made of a material that has antiadhesive properties with respect to high alloy steels and high hot strength. Prior to the piercing operation, the temperature of either the working face or the entire guide tool is raised above room temperature to avoid high thermal stresses.
Abstract:
In a demodulator for radio data signals the transmission of which is made by phase-keying of a suppressed subcarrier the occurence of transient times is avoided in that the received signal of subcarrier frequency is transformed into a first square wave signal (A) and that a second square wave signal of subcarrier of frequency is formed which is brought into such a time relationship to the first square wave signal that by means of a comparison of both square wave signals a phase information for the first square wave signal (A) is obtained. Demodulator can be implemented by means of only digital components.
Abstract:
In a radio receiver having a device for decoding radio data signals, which are divided into groups each with a predetermined number of bits and contain a program identification code, and having a device for switchover for switchover from a received frequency to an alternative frequency, by briefly switching over to the alternative frequency, a plurality of data samples are taken from various groups and at various times within the groups of the radio data signal that is received at the alternative frequency. The data samples are compared with a program identification code stored in memory.
Abstract:
In a method for measuring the frequency of a signal, in which counting pulses are counted and the counting result is emitted in the form of a digital signal, the counting pulses are derived from clock pulses, and the frequency of all the counting pulses is equivalent to a multiple of the frequency of the clock pulses. The counting pulses appear at various taps of a delay chain and are counted with the aid of a plurality of counters. After at least one period or one portion of the period of the signal has elapsed, the contents of the counters are added together.
