    摘要: A catalyst comprising the product formed by(a) treating silica to remove surface hydroxyl groups;(b) contacting said treated silica with (1) a modifying compound selected from the group consisting of silicon halides, boron halides, aluminum halides, alkyl silicon halides and mixtures thereof; and (2) at least one hydrocarbon soluble magnesium-containing compound selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyloxy magnesium, hydrocarbyloxymagnesium halides and mixtures thereof; said contacting steps (1) and (2) occurring in random order;(c) contacting the product of step (b) with at least one titanium-containing compound having the structural formula Ti(OR).sub.n X.sub.m, where R is aryl, alkyl or mixtures thereof; X is halogen; n is an integer of 1 to 4; m is 0 or an integer of 1 to 3; and the sum of m and n is 4; and(d) treating the product of step (c) with a titanium-containing compound having the structural formula TiX.sup.1.sub.p OR.sup.1).sub.q, where X.sup.1 is halogen; R.sup.1 is aryl or alkyl; p is an integer of 1 to 4; q is 0 or an integer of 1 to 3; and the sum of p and q is 4, with the proviso that the titanium-containing compound of this step is not the same as the titanium-containing compound of step (c).The catalyst is useful in polymerizing propylene. In this application propylene is polymerized under propylene polymerization conditions in the presence of a first co-catalyst, an aluminum-containing compound, and a second co-catalyst, a slane.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a process to in-situ reactor-fill polyolefins. More specifically, the instant invention provides a process to reactor-fill polyolefins comprising the steps of (a) adding a sufficient amount of alpha-olefin to a filler prior to using the filler for in-situ polymerization; (b) prepolymerizing the mixture of step (a) by contacting the treated filler in random order of no specific sequence with a high activity polymerization catalyst, a cocatalyst, and, if necessary a cocatalyst modifier; and (c) adding an alpha-olefin under olefin polymerization reaction conditions to the reaction product of step (b) to form a reactor-filled composite. The prepolymerization step results in the formation of a sticky prepolymer on the surface and in the pores of the filler.The present invention further relates to reactor-filled polyolefin composites obtained from the process of the present invention. The reactor-filled polyolefin composites produced by the instant invention are characterized as containing low levels of fines and having a relatively uniform distribution of filler material dispensed throughout the composite matrix.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a method to reactor-fill polyolefins and to reactor-filled composites obtained from the instant method. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method to reactor-fill polyolefins comprising the steps of (a) adding a catalytic amount of a low activity catalyst to a filler material either during or before polymerization to initiate the formation of atactic polyolefin on the surface and in the pores of the filler; (b) contacting the product of step (a) in no specific order with a high activity catalyst, a cocatalyst, and, if necessary a cocatalyst modifier; and (c) adding an alpha-olefin under olefin polymerization reaction conditions to the reaction product of step (b) to form a reactor-filled composite. The addition of the low activity catalyst to the filler material causes compatibilization of the filler with the matrix polymer, reduced fines, rounded aggregate particles and increased catalyst activity over an un-filled polymerization catalyst system or by that afforded by the elimination of the low activity catalyst obtained from the method of the present invention. The reactor-filled polyolefin composites produced by the instant invention are characterized as having a relatively uniform distribution of filler particles dispensed therein and having improved physical and rheological properties compared to prior art reactor-filled composites.
