    摘要: A marine propulsion device is made of first and second portions which are removably attachable to each other. The second portion is the leading edge portion of the nose cone and the drive shaft housing. It can also comprise a portion of the skeg. The second portion is configured to crush more easily in response to an impact force than the first portion. This can be accomplished by making the second portion from a different material than the first portion, which can be aluminum, or by providing one or more crush boxes within the structure of the second portion to cause it to yield more quickly to an impact force and thus protect the first portion which is the more critical structure of the marine device.

    摘要: A fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine comprises first and second fuel reservoirs connected in fluid communication with each other. The first fuel reservoir is a fuel vapor separator which has a vent conduit connected in fluid communication with a second fuel reservoir. Under normal operation, fuel vapor flows from the fuel vapor separator and into the second fuel reservoir for eventual discharge to the atmosphere. Any liquid fuel caused to flow out of the vent conduit of the fuel vapor separator is contained within the second fuel reservoir and prevented from being discharged into the cavity under the cowl of an outboard motor and eventually into a body of water in which the marine system is operated.

    摘要: An actuator for a marine transmission uses four cavities of preselected size in order to provide four potential forces resulting from pressurized hydraulic fluid within those cavities. The effective areas of surfaces acted upon by the hydraulic pressure are selected in order to provide increased force to move the actuator toward a neutral position from either a forward or reverse gear position. Also, the relative magnitudes of these effective areas are also selected to provide a quicker movement into gear than out of gear, given a similar differential magnitude of pressures within the cavities.

    摘要: A remote control manually movable handle for a gear selection and throttle selection device is provided with asymmetry in order to improve the mechanical advantage available to the operator when moving the selection handle from neutral gear position to forward or reverse gear position. The total neutral zone is increased in order to provide this improved mechanical advantage while maintaining the generally similar range of travel of the forward gear zone in comparison to known prior art systems. By changing the relative gear teeth arrangements of the remote control system, this asymmetry and resulting mechanical advantage is achieved. A handle shape is provided that results in a general perpendicularity between the handle and a reference line in order to improve the feel of the handle when used by the operator of the marine vessel.
