    摘要: Image resizing for web-based searching is described. In one implementation, a system resizes a user-selected thumbnail image into a larger version of the image that emulates the quality of a large, original image, but without downloading the original image. First, the system extracts resizing parameters when each thumbnail image is created. Then, the system creates a codebook of primitive visual elements extracted from a collection of training images. The primitive visual elements in the codebook provide universal visual parts for reconstructing images. The codebook and a resizing plug-in can be sent once to the user over a background channel. When the user selects a thumbnail image for enlargement, the system resizes the thumbnail image via interpolation and then refines the enlarged image with primitive visual elements from the codebook. The refinement creates an enlarged image that emulates the quality of the large, original image, without downloading the original image.

Preferably the additional information is related to an object within the frame. A receiver receives the video and additional information and decodes the video in the same manner independently of whether the additional information is provided. The system may also present information to a viewer from a unitary file containing an image and additional information associated with the image. A selection mechanism permits the selection of objects in the image for which the additional information is related thereto. A presentation mechanism provides the additional information to a viewer in response to selecting the object.

    摘要: Semantically meaningful events are detected in video with a multi-level technique. Video sequences are visually analyzed at the first level of the technique to detect shot boundaries, to measure color and texture of the content, and to detect objects in the content. At the second level of the technique, objects are classified and the content in each shot is summarized. At the third level of the technique, an event inference module infers events on the basis of temporal and spatial phenomena disclosed in the shot summaries. The technique may be extended to additional domains by incorporating additional domain related processes at the upper levels of the technique which utilize data produced at the first level of the technique by processes which are domain independent.

The query terms may be associated with an intent, e.g. product entity, store entity, person entity. The search engine classifies the query and identifies search results that correspond to the query. The search results are grouped based on intents associated with the query. A graphical user interface displays the grouped on search results and allows the user to modify the groupings. The graphical user interface is also updated with entity or entity attributes corresponding to the intents used to group the search results.
