摘要: A gas turbine is provided including a rotor which includes a rotor portion of a fluid bearing for rotatably supporting the rotor, a radially outer stator portion, a radially inner stator portion including a stator portion of the fluid bearing, a compressor air passage extending between the radially outer stator portion and the radially inner stator portion, and an annular gap between the rotor and the radially inner stator portion partially forming an annular air passage in communication with the compressor air passage, wherein along a flow direction of air flowing within the annular air passage a radius of the air passage decreases in a first portion and then increases in a second portion. Further a method for operating a gas turbine is described.

摘要: Methods and compositions to detect morphological impact on gene expression from gene expression signals. Locations of marginally-expressed probesets are measured relative to the location of expressed and non-expressed probesets. A set of scores are generated, which may be used to detect effects of cell morphology on the mechanism of gene expression; for example, the effect of organism age, or the state of mitochondrial function, or the impact of CRISPR editing, or membership in sub-populations within clinical trials for whom treatment is safe and/or effective.

摘要: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating an action game of chance. The methods including methods of wagering on an action game by comparing a current player score to a plurality of other player scores, awarding a player based on a score and a random event, wherein the odds of receiving the award are increased as the score increases, establishing a game purse based on wagers placed and payouts made, requiring additional wagers if a player does not exceed a predetermined threshold minimum required score and terminating the action game if the game running score is lower than the minimum required score. Action game of chance apparatuses are also provided that include a display, a user interface, a wager acceptor, and a processor. The processor executes instructions that cause the processor to recognize an amount wagered, display an action game, vary the action game based on user input, and credit a player based on the input and a random event.

摘要: A MEMS-based projector may be included in various user devices. A selective fold mirror, a MEMS-based projector, and a polarization rotator may be oriented to reflect a beam within the device for external projection. Alternatively, a total internal reflection prism may take the place of a selective fold mirror or a polarization rotator and may reduce the number of necessary components in the user device. Various optical components may be placed in the MEMS-based projector and arranged in different positions to reflect a light beam in a desired direction for external projection. The components that make up the MEMS-based projector may depend on the available footprint in the device and the direction in which the light beam is to be projected. Some optical components may provide multiple functionalities which would otherwise require multiple components and may reduce the size of the projector.

摘要: A method is provided for predicting material properties and creating or modifying materials to exhibit desired properties. Materials and devices are described that are formed using the methods. Using embodiments described above, a number of advantages are realized. One advantage includes an ability to predict hysteresis in a multiple phase material. One embodiment includes an ability to modify or create a material to exhibit low hysteresis. Using embodiments described above to predict material properties and modify material properties, a number of materials can be created. An improved shape memory alloy with low hysteresis can be created. Additionally, a material that exhibits any of a number of properties that are normally mutually exclusive can be created.
