摘要: Method and system for determining a norm to apply to a patient being examined in which at least one physical characteristic of the patient is determined from the examination and guidelines relating thereto are obtained. Information about the patient other than from the examination and established norms for each characteristic are also obtained. An established norm to be applied to the patient is selected based on the determination of the characteristic(s), the guidelines relating to the determination thereof, and the information about the patient other than from the examination. The selection of the norm is performed by an inference engine. The norm is applied to the characteristic, e.g., a measured anatomical feature, to obtain a normal value therefor. The measured anatomical feature is compared to the normal value to determine whether it is indicative of a normal or abnormal condition.

摘要: A system is provided for guiding the selection of a value for each of a plurality of parameters needed to perform a procedure with a medical system (100). The system includes a first knowledge base (210) comprising procedures and treatment regimes, a second knowledge base (212) comprising patient information and therapy history, and a third knowledge base (214) comprising clinical guidelines. A domain ontology (220) provides the semantic mapping between information in the first, second, and third knowledge bases. A system configuration database (226) contains physical characteristics pertaining to the medical system and a system characteristics database (228) contains mathematical formulas and algorithms for calibrating the medical system based on the data in the system configuration database. An interference engine (224) is also provided for generating a set of parameters based on the information in the first, second, and third knowledge bases, the system configuration database, and the system characteristics database.

摘要: A method (800) and apparatus (100) are disclosed for predicting a level of interest in an item, such as the size of an audience for a television program, based on the selection history (120) of multiple users and the extent to which the item is recommended (220) to the multiple users. The size of an audience for a given program can be predicted based on, for example, the percentage of users to which the given program is “highly recommended.” A method (900) for calibrating the accuracy of the predictions using measurement data indicating the actual size of the audience is also disclosed. A comparison of the predicted and actual audiences allows a correction factor to be generated to improve subsequent predictions.

The method includes the steps of retrieving at least one GRSS corresponding to the at least one subset of a set of XML grammar rules, where the at least one GRSS includes transformation rules for transforming an XML document to at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules; and transforming data elements of the XML document using the transformation rules of the at least one retrieved GRSS to data elements structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules to transform the XML document to the at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules.

摘要: This invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining a reliability indicator for at least one set of signatures obtained from clinical data collected from a group of samples. The signatures are obtained by detecting characteristics in the clinical data from the group of sample sand each of the signatures generate a first set of stratification values that stratify the group of samples. At least one additional and parallel stratification source to the signatures obtained from group of sample sis provided, the at least one additional and parallel stratification source to the signatures being independent from the signatures and generates a second set of stratification values. A comparison is done for each respective sample, where the first stratification values are compared with a true reference stratification values, and where the second stratification values are compared with the true reference stratification values. The signatures are assigned with similarity measure indicators indicating whether the first and the second stratification values match with the true reference stratification values. These are then implementing as input in determining the reliability of the signatures.

摘要: A system and method are provided for executing an executable clinical practice guideline for providing guidance in treating a patient. The system includes a guideline repository providing for storing a plurality of executable clinical practice guidelines, at least one interface providing for entry of clinical context data associated with at least one of the patient and the patient's treatment and a display. A system server, which upon receipt of said clinical context data, automatically chooses an appropriate clinical practice guideline and displays the guideline with a visual navigator on the display. The server automatically provides the guideline at its present level of abstraction, and also provides the user with a visual navigator which defines the current level of abstraction; Alternatively, upon receipt of a signal generated by a user to manually choose, via the UI, the guideline and the level of abstraction of the guideline, which are then displayed. The level of abstraction may be changed by user input in both manual and automatic mode.

摘要: A resource constrained device is disclosed which includes a tag reader, e.g., an RFID or barcode reader, a communication unit that can communicate information read from the tags to an information interface, and a controller. The controller is arranged to send the information to the information interface via the communication unit. The information interface returns a response, e.g., comprising an XML document. The response is used by the controller to adjust operational parameters which modify the performance of an operational unit, e.g., a washing machine.
