摘要： A magnetic head element has one or more rails formed on the surface thereof. Each rail is formed so as to have a tapered angle of 55.degree.-85.degree.. To form such a rail, ion milling is conducted; the rail substrate used is allowed to have an inclination angle to 15.degree.-60.degree. and is rotated; and there is used, as the ion milling gas, a fluorinated hydrocarbon (e.g. CH.sub.2 FCF.sub.3) gas alone or a mixed gas of said fluorinated hydrocarbon gas and Ar, SF.sub.6 or the like. Accordingly, a magnetic head rail shape gives a small variation in flying height between magnetic head and magnetic disc.

摘要： A process for producing a magnetic head slider with at least one rail having an air bearing surface. The process includes the steps of disposing a non-metallic film on a work surface to be shaped of a magnetic head slider material so as to be in intimate contact with the work surface, patterning the non-metallic film disposed on the work surface into at least one predetermined rail shape, shaping the work surface of the magnetic head slider material utilizing the patterned non-metallic film as a mask, and stripping off the patterned non-metallic film utilized as a mask which remains on the work surface of the slider material so as to provide at least one shaped slider rail of the magnetic head slider.

摘要： A hollow cathode discharge tube is used for atomic absorption analysis. The tube has a cathode which includes a first hollow portion and a second hollow portion connected to each other. The second hollow portion has a diameter greater than the first hollow portion and a close end. Inserted through the closed end is a rod-like anode which has a part within the hollow space of the cathode. There is a auxiliary electrode which can be an auxiliary anode that surrounds the rod-like anode and is insulated therefrom. There is an additional electrode which can be an auxiliary cathode at the front end portion of the cathode. The cathode is formed of a material that is a material or includes a material that is to be analyzed.

摘要： There is disclosed a method for inspecting a physical feature on a surface of a manufactured article. First, a sensor is provided adjacent to the article. Then, the surface of the article is sensed by the sensor while causing one of the sensor and the article to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the surface of the article, to thereby obtain a signal which has peaks corresponding to the physical feature on the surface of the article. Subsequently the signal is processed and the processed signal is analyzed based on the number of the peaks, to thereby obtain information as to the physical feature on the surface of the article. An inspection apparatus suitable for practicing the above-mentioned method is also disclosed.
