摘要： A disposable diaper includes a liquid-permeable topsheet, a liquid-impermeable backsheet and an absorbent core therebetween. A pair of contractible leg-gasket cuffs extend outward beyond transversely opposite side edges of the absorbent core and a pair of contractible barrier cuffs extend adjacent the side edges of the absorbent core and are biased to rise from an upper surface of the top sheet above the absorbent core. Each of the barrier cuffs is made of a nonwoven fabric and each of the leg-gasket cuffs is formed with a portion of the nonwoven fabric extending outward and a portion of the backsheet extending outward beyond the side edge of the absorbent core and bonded onto the extending portion of the nonwoven fabric. A reinforcing sheet is bonded to an upper surface of each of the leg-gasket cuffs along its outer side edge in order to enhance a tensile strength of the leg-gasket cuff. The reinforcing sheet is made of a nonwoven fabric.

The topsheet is composed of a central sheet covering the core and a pair of side sheets lying at transversely opposite sides of the central sheet and extending longitudinally of the diaper, together with the backsheet. Each side sheet has a proximal zone bonded to the backsheet without overlapping a side edge of the central sheet bonded to the backsheet. An outer zone bonded to the remaining zone of the backsheet lying outside the proximal zone forms an elasticized first side flap and an inner zone extending above the central zone forms an elasticized second side flap.

An end portion of the rear waist region is provided with an elastic member associated with a waist-opening. The diaper has transversely opposite side edges and upper and lower edges. A plurality of slits extend through the diaper in its thickness direction and in a longitudinal direction so as to be spaced one from another by a predetermined dimension in a waist-surrounding direction between the side edges. The slits are also spaced one from another by a predetermined dimension in the longitudinal direction between a vicinity of the upper edge and a vicinity of the lower edge.

The cover member has an elastic stretchability along the upper ends of front and waist regions, and these front and rear waist regions are connected or connectable along transversely opposite side edges thereof. The liquid-absorbent member includes first and second elastically stretchable members that extend circumferentially across portions of the front and rear waist regions lying immediately above the crotch region.
