摘要: Embodiments described herein provide apparatuses and methods for preparing fluid. In one method, a heater thermally associated with a housing for receiving fluid is operated to apply thermal energy to the housing. A second predetermined volume of a second fluid is introduced to the housing. The second predetermined volume of the second fluid is moved with the housing for a first predetermined time period. The first predetermined volume of the first fluid is introduced to the housing. The first predetermined volume of first fluid and the second predetermined volume of second fluid are moved with the housing for a second predetermined time period. The first predetermined volume of first fluid and the second predetermined volume of second fluid are removed from the housing. Another embodiment provides an apparatus comprising a first housing for containing fluid. A second housing is operatively connected with the first housing. A prime mover is fixedly-attached to the second housing and is operatively connected with the first housing such that the first housing moves responsive to the prime mover and such that the second housing remains substantially stationary with respect to the prime mover. A fluid inlet is fluidly connected with the first housing for supplying fluid to the first housing. A fluid outlet is fluidly connected with the first housing for removing fluid from the first housing.

摘要: A mercury arc lamp comprises a glass envelope including a center portion. A cathode and an anode are sealed within the envelope. The internal ends of the cathode and the anode lie in close proximity to each other within the center portion of the envelope. Electrically conductive positive and negative contacts are connected to the anode and the cathode, respectively. The interior of the envelope contains mercury and cadmium to be vaporized during operation of the lamp. A pair of reflective coatings is around the envelope. Each coating is located near an internal end of the cathode and the anode, respectively, with a space between the coatings so that the arc between the cathode and the anode is adapted to emit radiation through the space. A flow cytometry apparatus which uses a mercury arc lamp such as described above, is also within the purview of the present invention.

摘要: According to one embodiment, a nozzle for introducing a fluid comprises a first conduit having a first end and a second conduit having a second end. The second conduit is disposed substantially concentrically with the first conduit. The first end is offset from the second end. A third conduit having a third end is provided with the third conduit being disposed substantially concentrically with the first conduit and the second conduit and the third end being offset from the first end and the second end. Another embodiment provides a method wherein a first fluid conveying conduit, a second fluid conveying conduit and a third fluid conveying conduit are provided. The second fluid conveying conduit substantially surrounds the first fluid conveying conduit and the third fluid conveying conduit substantially surrounds both the first fluid conveying conduit and the second fluid conveying conduit. A first fluid flows through the first fluid conveying conduit. A second fluid flows through the second fluid conveying conduit. A third fluid flows through the third fluid conveying conduit. Both the second fluid conveying conduit and the first fluid conveying conduit are substantially simultaneously cleaned.
