    摘要: Disclosed is a method whereby a vinyl compound such as an .alpha., .beta.-carbonyl compound, acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile is polymerized in a non-protonic organic medium in the presence of an alkali metal alcoholate as the polymerization catalyst. High polymers having different stereospecific structures contained at a desired ratio as well as low polymers having regulated stereochemical structures are manufactured from vinyl compounds such as above mentioned by selecting reaction conditions such as the kind of organic medium to be used and the amount of the catalyst in use based on that of the charged vinyl compound.

    摘要: The invention provides an aqueous thickener composition useful in the pros of enhanced oil recovery in petroleum technology. The thickener composition is prepared by the reaction of a xanthan gum or a similar high molecular weight polysaccharide with a low molecular weight aliphatic aldehyde such as formaldehyde in an aqueous medium in the presence of an inorganic salt such as sodium chloride in a concentration of 0.5 to 10% by weight so that an intramolecular crosslinked fine structure of superhelix is formed in the polysaccharide molecules and the aqueous solution of thus chemically modified polysaccharide is imparted with remarkably improved thermal stability as compared to the aqueous solutions of a similar polysaccharide which has been treated under the same conditions but in the absence of any inorganic salt in the reaction medium.

    摘要: Syndiotactic poly(methyl methacrylate) obtained by radical polymerization mixed with isotactic poly(methyl methacrylate) obtained by anionic polymerization so that the ratio by weight of the syndiotactic component to the isotactic component is from 2:8 to 8:2 and the mixture is dissolved homogeneously in a non-polar solvent such as benzene or toluene. The resist composition thus obtained is applied onto a substrate to form a photosensitive element which is then exposed to electron rays to cause depolymerization of the polymer in the exposed areas and developed with an organic solvent to form an image which is excellent in contrast and resolving power and devoid of pinholes.
