摘要: A zinc oxide semiconductor has a zinc oxide-based laminated structure including two layers of a zinc oxide layer with a lattice volume of Va and a donor concentration of Na, and a zinc oxide or zinc oxide solid solution layer with a lattice volume of Vb and a donor concentration of Nb. The relationships of Va Nb are satisfied. The layer with the lattice volume Va serves as a charge-supplying layer and the layer with the lattice volume Vb serves as a charge-receiving layer in the laminated structure. The charge is transferred from the layer serving as the charge-supplying layer to the layer serving as the charge-receiving layer even when no external electric field is applied to the laminated structure. A charge depletion layer is formed in the charge-supplying layer due to charge transfer from the charge-supplying layer to the charge-receiving layer.

摘要: A bar code reader includes an imaging element for recording a two-dimensional bar code, a frame memory for storing a two-dimensional bar code image recorded by the imaging element, and a bar code reading-control unit which finds coordinates of four corners of the two-dimensional bar code image stored in the frame memory, finds equations of four straight lines passing through four sides of the two-dimensional bar code image, sets a plurality of scan lines at equal intervals between those two of the four straight lines which cross two portions corresponding to start and end codes of the two-dimensional bar code image, and further sets a plurality of sampling lines at equal intervals between remaining two straight lines extending along the two portions, respectively, and samples the two-dimensional bar code image at positions corresponding to intersections between the scan lines and the sampling lines, whereby bar code information is read out from the two-dimensional bar code image.

摘要: As a solid electrolyte suitable for use in oxygen sensors a partially stabilized zirconia, which essentially consists of 4.5-6.0 mol % of Y.sub.2 O.sub.3 and the balance of ZrO.sub.2 and is constituted of tetragonal and cubic crystals, is produced by using a coprecipitated powder of a solid solution of ZrO.sub.2 and Y.sub.2 O.sub.3 as the raw material and performing sintering of a green body at a temperature not higher than 1500.degree. C. The ZrO.sub.2 -Y.sub.2 O.sub.3 powder has a mean particle size not larger than 1 .mu.m and a specific surface area in the range from 2.5 to 7 m.sup.2 /g and is required to be not more than 0.2 wt % in the content of unwanted SiO.sub.2 so that the sintered solid electrolyte may be as low as possible in the content of SiO.sub.2. The obtained solid electrolyte has good mechanical properties and exhibits sufficiently high withstand voltage.

摘要: A recording and reproducing apparatus of an optical recording medium has a plurality of light sources. A plurality of light beams are radiated by a laser diode array to a track of the optical recording medium, and each of the plurality of light beams reflected by the track is detected by a photodiode and converted into an electrical signal. The laser diode array is arranged such that the beam spots of adjacent ones of the plurality of light beams cross a track direction of the optical recording medium and a track width direction perpendicular to the track direction. The signal detected by the photodiode is converted into an electrical signal and recorded in a frame memory as data corresponding to the signal. The digital data stored in the frame memory is read out by a two-dimensional decoder.

摘要: A stop sensing section senses movements by comparing data on two lines separated by a time interval in the same place (line) of the digital image information on the bar codes from a signal processing section and, when there is no movement, outputs a decode start trigger signal to a decoder section. A CPU in the decoder section, receiving the decode start trigger signal, judges that the bar codes have stopped in the proper position, and reads the bar code image information stored in a frame memory at that time for decoding.

摘要: A solid electrolyte layer or body capable of being co-fired with an insulating ceramic substrate or body to be used as a gas sensor laminate. The gas sensor laminate is preferably composed of an alumina substrate (1) and an oxygen-ion conductive solid electrolyte layer (6) bonded to the alumina substrate (1) by firing. The oxygen-ion conductive solid electrolyte layer or body is formed from partially or wholly stabilized zirconia, which layer contains alumina in an amount of 10% to 80% by weight, particularly 30% to 75% by weight. In this manner, another ceramic layer; particularly, a ceramic layer (7) of alumina can further be bonded to the oxygen-ion conductive solid electrolyte layer. The relative density of the ceramic layer can be 60% to 99.5%, preferably 80% to 99.5%.

摘要: The intensity of light reflected from a bar code constructed by bars and spaces is time-sequentially detected by use of a line sensor, sample-and-hold circuit and binary-coding circuit. Data representing the time-series of bars and spaces is counted by a white/black variation point detector and bar/space width counter and converted into width information. In this case, the bar/space width counter starts the counting operation in response to a count enable signal output after a skip-reading counter has counted a count amount previously set by a skip-reading amount setting section. Thus, when width information is stored into a memory, data obtained after data of the preset width among the width information is stored into the memory.
