    摘要: A spiral-wound membrane module for separating a solvent from a solution such as water from an impure solution by means of a reverse osmosis process and a method for making such membrane module. An elongated sheet of semi-permeable membrane material has disposed in juxtaposition to its opposite surfaces, respectively, a sheet of porous product water spacer material and a sheet of a feed water spacer material to provide a three-ply membrane composite which is wrapped around a hollow tubular mandrel. The membrane composite wound around the tubular mandrel is disposed in an outer cover in which at least one opening is provided having its end sealed and extending through a radial axis of the spirally wound membrane composite and a wall of the tubular mandrel. Thus, the porous product water spacer material is in direct fluid communication with the tubular mandrel and the product water collected in the product water spacer material is required only to traverse a maximum of one-half revolution thereof to drain into the hollow tubular mandrel.

    摘要: A reverse osmosis membrane module assembly that provides a high degree of adaptability to various locations and positions as well as economical manufacture and efficient maintenance comprises a closed receptacle having a detachable first end closure through which pass all plumbing connections to the interior chamber. Membrane module means are removably supported in the receptacle chamber on an inlet tube connected to the first end closure. The membrane module means may include one or a plurality of modules each comprising a body member having a hollow tubular member extending beyond both ends of the body member. The end portions of the tubular member have connection means thereon that allows quick and simple attachment of the modules to the closure means and to each other in series. A product water passageway that provides for the removal of product water from the membrane module means is formed between the inside diameter of the membrane module tubular member and the outer diameter of the inlet tube. In operation feed water flows in through the first end closure means, through the inlet tube past the membrane in a first direction, enters the chamber at a point remote from the closure means, reverses direction to flow back through the chamber and through the membrane module means where product water passes through the membrane under a pressure differential and waste water flows past the membrane. Both the product water and the waste water then pass out of the chamber through the first end closure means.

To rotate the cam unit, a motor drives a pinion which is yieldingly mounted for engagement with a driven gear of the cam unit which driven gear has a cut-out segment for receiving the pinion when the cam unit is in a neutral or service position. To shift the cam unit from the service position into an operating position, the device includes a shifting means which may be a pivoting lever operated by a calendar device or a solenoid engaging a groove on the cam unit when actuated by a sensed signal.

    摘要: A regeneration control and timer system for one or two water softening or conditioning units to provide for regeneration of the softening material when it has become exhausted, with each water softening unit containing a sensor for indicating the stage of exhaustion of the material and actuating a timer for initiating a regeneration cycle. A timer clock is also present for utilization if the sensor is inoperable and the control contains a shiftable lever and a switch to change from sensor to clock operation. Also, the control system provides for duplexing of the timers and sensors of two water softeners using only a pair of connecting wires so that only one of the two softeners will be regenerated at a time even though both softeners reach the point of exhaustion at substantially the same time.
