Abstract: Various systems and methods for disabling UAVs are presented. An interrogation system may transmit an identifier request message to a UAV. The interrogation system may receive, in response to the identifier request message, a response message that indicates a UAV identifier. The interrogation system may access one or more UAV identifier databases that relate UAV identifiers with airspace definitions. The interrogation system may retrieve from the one or more UAV identifier database systems an airspace definition corresponding to the UAV identifier. The interrogation system may determine that the UAV is to be disabled based on: a location of the UAV, a restricted airspace definition, and the airspace definition corresponding to the UAV identifier. The interrogation system may then transmit a disablement instruction message to the UAV based on the location of the UAV and the airspace definition corresponding to the UAV identifier.

Abstract: A system for alerting drivers to the presence of oncoming emergency vehicles. According to an embodiment, the system includes: a first transceiver located in an emergency vehicle for transmitting GPS coordinates of the emergency vehicle, and second transceiver located in an automobile. The second transceiver is receives the transmitted information and determines a proximity of the emergency vehicle relative to the automobile. If the emergency vehicle is within a predetermined proximity of the automobile, the second transceiver causes selective attenuation of audio and video signals currently being output in order to raise driver awareness to audio/video alerts generated by the emergency vehicle.

Abstract: The present technology relates to systems and methods for control of home automation activity based on user preferences. More specifically, the present technology relates to using a home automation system to control home automation activity based on user preferences. Example embodiments include receiving an input from a user including a set of preferences, generating a user profile using the set of preferences, receiving data indicating that a mobile device has moved from a first location to a second location, transmitting the user profile to the mobile device for application to the home automation system, receiving data indicating that the mobile device has been at the second location for a period of time, comparing the period of time to a predetermined threshold period of time, and applying the home automation settings associated with the second location to the home automation system.

Abstract: Arrangements of integrated door lock and position sensor devices are presented. A wireless interface may be configured to wirelessly communicate with one or more remote computerized devices. A sensor may be incorporated into the device that detects when the door is open or closed. A lock may be incorporated into the device that, when engaged and the door is closed, prevents the door from being opened from at least one side of the door may be incorporated into the device. A controller may be configured to determine when the door is open, shut, locked, and/or unlocked using information from the lock and the sensor.

Abstract: Identifying errors with home HVAC systems and notifying the homeowner of the error and potential remedial steps can be useful. In some embodiments, a method is provided including receiving, at an electronic device, a temperature value and an airflow value from sensors located at a vent grate of the HVAC system. A temperature delta value can be calculated using the temperature value and an ambient temperature value. The temperature delta value can be compared with predetermined temperature delta threshold value. The airflow value can be compared with predetermined airflow threshold value. Based on comparing the temperature delta value step and/or the comparing the airflow value step, an error with the HVAC system can be identified. A notification of the error and subsequent potential remedial steps can be sent from the electronic device to the homeowner.

The activity of components may be changed and altered to test correlations or determine causality between components.

Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and method for recording transmitted data items, and particularly television and radio programs. The data items are received at one or more inputs along with ID data identifying the transmitted data items and the program series to which the data item belongs. An input interface receives input indicating whether one or more received transmitted data items have been viewed or recorded by a user and a processor generates values for ranking the series to which each of the received data items belong based upon the received input. Subsequently received transmitted data items are stored in a storage device based on the generated values, the stored data items belonging to a series for which a value has been generated.

Abstract: A light switch comprises a user input mechanism, a wireless receiver for receiving remote control signals and a processor coupled to the user input mechanism and to the wireless receiver and configured to control a light source to turn it on and off both in response to activation of the user input mechanism and in response to the remote control signals. The light switch is configured, in response to a user override input via the user input mechanism, to enter an override state, whereby the light source is maintained in an off state and remote control signals are prevented from causing the light source to be switched on, until the override state is disengaged. An additional light switch may also be provided that communicates with the aforementioned light switch to provide multi-way switching.
