Abstract:
A chassis-height adjustment system for selectively raising and lowering a chassis relative to a ground surface includes a plurality of support assemblies supporting a chassis on respective ground-engaging elements. Each support assembly has a height adjustment actuator. Each height position sensor senses an adjustment position one of the height adjustment actuators and generates a height signal. Each of the support assemblies may be mounted to the chassis by a track-width adjustment mechanism having a track-width adjustment actuator. The height adjustment system is controlled in a manner to synchronize each height adjustment actuator with the other actuators. Adjustment of one or more height adjustment actuators is slowed or stopped in the event that other actuators need to catch up. The track-width adjustment actuators may shift the position of the associated ground-engaging element laterally relative to the chassis to keep the ground-engaging elements from sliding laterally as the chassis height changes.
Abstract:
A soil cultivator for mechanical weed control between rows of cultivated plants includes a frame attachable to a tractor for movement along a traveling direction, and at least one soil processing unit attached to the frame. The at least one soil control unit includes a deformable sub-frame made of an elastic material. The soil cultivator further comprises a first adjusting means connected to the deformable sub-frame via at least one first connecting element, and a second adjusting means connected to the deformable sub-frame via at least one second connecting element. At least one adjusting unit is provided for carrying out a movement of the first and the second adjusting means, such that the deformable sub-frame is elastically deformable by the movement of the first and the second adjusting means such that the extent of the deformable sub-frame changes transversely to the traveling direction.

Abstract:
A system for correcting skewing in an agricultural implement where the implement includes a plurality of ground engaging tools laterally spaced across a width of the implement and operative to selectively engage the ground to perform a desired operation on a field surface has a skew detecting device operative to sense when the implement is travelling in a skewed orientation and send a correction signal indicating the skewed orientation to a correction mechanism. A drag force is exerted on the ground engaging tools by engagement with the ground when performing the desired operation on the field surface, and the correction mechanism is operative to change the drag forces exerted on at least some ground engaging tools on one side of the implement to correct the skewed orientation.
Abstract:
Removable universal tool-holder for mounting on a straddling vineyard tractor for agricultural work in tree or shrub plantations includes a main coupling chassis constructed so that it can be mounted, in a removable manner, on a straddling vineyard tractor; two secondary coupling chassis, each provided with a universal three-point hitch system; mechanisms connecting each secondary coupling chassis to the main coupling chassis; and mechanisms that make it possible to move each secondary coupling chassis in a vertical or approximately vertical plane and, preferably, in a horizontal or approximately horizontal plane. It is understood that the universal tool-holder can support machines constructed to accomplish cultivation or treatment work such as: hoeing, mowing, plowing, harrowing, spraying, thinning out leaves, pruning, lopping, etc.
Abstract:
In the field of agricultural tractor and implement combinations, there have been numerous attempts at improving the efficiency of isolated sub-systems such as the engine, the implement control and the transmission. Such sub-systems have individually successfully been automated, but previous attempts to automate the entire control of a tractor during eg. plowing operations have previously failed. Accordingly, a control apparatus has been provided for a tractor/implement combination to include a control apparatus comprising a plurality of microprocessors. The microprocessors are arranged in a hierarchical control strategy that includes a steady state reference model of various performance parameters of the tractor/implement combination. The tractor/implement combination can therefore be controlled in an automated, integrated way such that the tractor operator does not have to operate any of the sub-systems while maximizing the performance against a chosen criterion such as minimum fuel consumption or maximum work rate.
Abstract:
A variable width field implement includes a central frame and wing assemblies which are pivotally attached to the central frame. Implement elements are pivotally attached to the wing assemblies. The field implement utilizes a collapsible parallelogram geometry and pivotal connections to allow the width between implement elements to be altered while at the same time the elements retain an orientation that is parallel to the direction of travel.
Abstract:
A device for connecting a rotary tiller unit, plow or like working implement directly to a tractor by three-point link system comprises connectors each including a connecting rod and a hitch pin to be inserted into a hitch hole at the rear end of the three-point link system. The connectors are mounted fixedly on a front portion of the working implement but are slidable laterally of the implement and mountable in their reversed position, whereby the working implement is connectable to the tractor in tandem or in offset arrangement, interchangeably between the tandem and offset positions.
Abstract:
An apparatus for adjustably mounting a plurality of plow elements or the like, the apparatus having a body portion which includes a plurality of tool mounting means, each tool mounting means being pivotable about a vertical axis. An arm extends from each tool mounting means, and a connecting means, in the form of an elongated member, is connected to each arm at a point thereon which is spaced from the vertical axis of the associated tool mounting means. The body portion may be swingably moved and, when it is, the effective width of tool sweep is varied while, at the same time, each tool mounting means is pivoted about its vertical axis to maintain the same at the most effective working angle.
