摘要： A dry pet food comprises a core and an external coating that covers at least a part of the core and is composed of one or more layers, including a covering layer on the outside. The core contains: carbohydrates in a concentration of 20-90% by weight of the core, including starch in a concentration of 5-50% by weight of the core; protein in a concentration of 10-50% by weight of the core; fat in a concentration of 0-40% by weight of the core. The covering layer is composed of: 1-80 wt. % dry yeast extract; 0.5-60 wt. % of an edible phosphate salt selected from pyrophosphate, triphosphate and combinations thereof; 0-95 wt. % of other edible components. The dry yeast extract is contained in the covering layer in a concentration of 0.1-10% by weight of the dry pet food in a concentration of 0.1-5% by weight of the dry pet food.

摘要： Methods of inhibiting the spread of African swine fever virus and/or classical swine fever virus in animal feed, feed ingredients, and pet food are provided. The methods utilize generally safe chemical mitigants, such as medium chain fatty acids. The chemical mitigants are effective when introduced to the feed or feed ingredients at inclusion rates much lower than previous methods for inhibiting other microbes. The methods are particularly suitable for use in post-processing treatment of animal feed, feed ingredients, or pet food that will be transported and stored for multiple days or weeks.

摘要： The present invention is a yogurt product that may be consumed by dogs and other mammalian pets. The yogurt product is in an unflavored form comprising as essential constituents: (A) 0% to 88% by weight water; (B) 0.2% to 25% by weight of a no-fat protein component selected from the group consisting of skim milk and cultured skim milk; (C1) 0.001% to 6% by weight sugar component comprising: (C1) 0.001% to 6% polydextrose and (C2) 0.001% to 6% Glycoses and Galactoses; (D) 2% to 8% by weight milk derived solids; (E) 0.2% to 2.5% by weight stabilizers and emulsifiers; and (F) at least one probiotic microorganism. The yogurt product may be refrigerated and served as a mousse, frozen dessert, or as a fermented yogurt drink similar to Ayran or Kefir. A method for producing the yogurt product is also disclosed herein.

摘要： The present invention relates to methods of determining the levels of 3-methylhistidine before and after a meal in a companion animal, wherein the meal is a pet foodstuff having a particular protein to fat ratio, which is useful in decreasing the levels of 3-methydlhistidine post-prandially and having the beneficial effects as described herein. The pet foodstuff comprises a ratio of protein to fat of 1:0.27 to 1:0.63 on a gram:gram as fed or dry matter basis. The pet foodstuff described is fed to a companion animal for use in reducing and/or preventing sarcopenia. The present invention also relates to methods of feeding the pet foodstuff described and/or dietary regimes to provide the companion animal with the benefit of reducing and/or preventing sarcopenia.

摘要： Provided are methods of making and using an antimicrobial composition, optionally including adding one or more enzymes to a suspension of lees, wherein the lees was formed by fermenting fruit with yeast and the one or more optional enzymes comprise a protease, a carbohydrase, or a combination of a protease and a carbohydrase; and forming a dried lees by drying the lees. In some examples the fruit includes chardonnay grapes, pinot noir grapes, cabernet franc grapes, or a combination of any two or more of chardonnay grapes, pinot noir grapes, and cabernet franc grapes; the yeast includes one or more Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains of yeast; and drying the lees by heating it. In some examples, trub made from fermenting a grain such as barley is used instead of lees. An antimicrobial composition made as provided may be administered to an animal to inhibit bacterial growth.
