摘要: A pad assembly for a helmet comprises a pad formed of a first material and a support structure of a second material that is formed on and bonded to the pad by means of an additive manufacturing process. The first material and the second material being selected to bond together when the support structure is formed on the pad during the additive manufacturing process. In one example the pad assembly comprises a crescent-shaped conformal strip with a flange that is received in a corresponding groove in the helmet. In another example, the pad assembly comprises a plate having posts formed thereon for engaging corresponding holes formed in the helmet. Also disclosed is a helmet including a pad assembly.

摘要: A helmet includes a helmet body and right and left cheek pads arranged inside the helmet body. The cheek pads each include a first bottom portion including a first outer surface located downward from a lower edge of the helmet body and a second bottom portion including a second outer surface located rearward from the first bottom portion. The first outer surface and the second outer surface form a wearing opening of the helmet and are negative pressure generating surfaces configured to generate a downforce acting on the helmet by having the first outer surface located downward from the second outer surface. The first bottom portion and the second bottom portion are resilient so as to enlarge the wearing opening when receiving force for enlarging the wearing opening and reduce the wearing opening in size when the force is removed.

摘要: Disclosed herein are engineered composite materials suitable for applications that can benefit from a composite material capable of interacting with or responding to, in a controlled or pre-determined manner, changes in its surrounding environment, such as to attenuate a compression wave. The composite material generally includes a plurality of repeating units, with each repeating unit including a first layer of particles having a first mean diameter, and a second layer of particles having a second mean diameter, and an intermediary material that allows mobility of and contact between the first particles within the first layer and mobility of and contact between the second particles within the second layer; the contact allowing momentum transfer between the particles. The first mean diameter and second mean diameter are different and are less than 500 nm. The first or second particles may be core-shell particles having a core that is partly or completely filled with a liquid, a gas and/or a gel, such as a fire suppressant, a medically active agent or a dye.

摘要: A protective component for a helmet includes a liner or shell that is coupleable with the helmet so that the liner or shell is positioned on an interior surface of the helmet. The liner or shell is made of a low-friction material and is coupled with the helmet so that the liner or shell is moveable relative to the helmet in response to a force being exerted on the helmet. A rear support member is removably coupled with the liner or shell and a tightening mechanism is attached to the rear support member. The tightening mechanism is configured to tension a tension member and thereby tighten the liner or shell, and the helmet, about the wearer's head.

The assembly comprises a front-to-back mounting unit comprising at least one rail, grip or connector configured for connecting at least one helmet accessory to the front-to-back mounting unit, whereby the front-to-back mounting unit further comprises a back end configured to enable passage of securing elements there through, and at least one clipping element for attaching the back end of the front-to-back mounting unit to a back edge of the helmet via the securing elements, configured to further pass through the at least one clipping element, and forcefully pulling the front-to-back mounting unit onto the surface of the helmet to squeeze the mounting unit onto the helmet.

摘要: A helmet comprising and outer liner and an inner liner slidably coupled to an interior surface of the outer liner is disclosed. The outer liner comprises an interior surface and the inner liner comprises an exterior surface. The inner liner is composed of an elastically deformable material. A majority of the interior surface of the outer liner and a majority of the exterior surface of the inner liner are both substantially parallel to a pseudo-spherical surface having a coronal cross section that is circular with a first radius and a sagittal cross section that is circular with a second radius different from the first radius. The inner liner is elastically deformable along the interior surface of the outer liner in response to rotation of the outer liner relative to the inner liner caused by an impact to the helmet.
