    摘要： Hybrid coil and air chamber assemblies for cushioning supports generally include pressurized air chambers that are positioned intermediate strings of pocketed coils. In this manner, the coils and air chambers can move independently but can be made to cooperate to provide firmness control, contouring and/or support of a user thereof. Air pressure within the air chambers can be independently adjusted to manipulate firmness and/or contour properties in specific zones defined by the presence and location of the air chambers, e.g., pressure of the air chambers corresponding to the lumbar region can be adjusted to eliminate high pressure points. Still further, the pressure within the air chambers can be automatically adjusted to different applied loads as a function of movement. Also disclose are processes for adjusting a mattress including the hybrid coil and air assemblies.

    摘要： A layered cushion that may be fully disassembled for easy cleaning is disclosed herein. The sleep system is durable and fire retardant. The layered cushion may include a foam layer, a layer of void cells, and a cover. The foam permits fluids to move freely there through and contours to a user's body to maximize comfort and reduce interface pressure. The reticulated foam layer resists compression set and thermosetting. The layer of void cells also permits fluids to move freely there through and provide additional support to the user's body. The individual void cells of the void cell layer are perforated to allow the transmission of fluids there through. The cover couples the other layers together to form the layered cushion and prevents the layers from deteriorating. The cover is removable to permit cleaning each of the layers independently.

    摘要： An adjustable bed is provided that has an articulating mattress a number of articulating sections. The bed has an adjustable base with a mechanism to move the articulating mattress into a plurality of positions. The articulating mattress has a number of rigid deck boards. Each articulating section has a corresponding deck board. Adjacent deck boards are hinged together so they can move or rotate with respect to one another. A suspension material, such as pocketed coil springs and/or foam, is disposed above each of said deck boards. A surrounding covering material that encases the deck boards and the suspension material to provide a mattress that can be moved to a number of different positions without any further retaining mechanisms being needed.

In one embodiment, a mattress innerspring is combined with one or more densified fiber structures which fit with the innerspring and with other components of the mattress. An innerspring perimeter support made of densified fiber may encase the outer perimeter of the innerspring and provide structural side walls to the mattress. In another embodiment and application, the inner cavity of one or more coils of a mattress innerspring may be substantially filled with densified fiber. In yet another embodiment, the general space between the coils of the innerspring may be filled with densified fiber. In still another embodiment, a combination of densified fiber supports may be included in one mattress innerspring assembly, such as, for example, a densified fiber perimeter support with densified fiber filled innerspring coils, or a densified fiber perimeter support with densified fiber filled in the general space between the coils of the innerspring, or a densified fiber filled innerspring coils densified fiber in the general space between each innerspring coil. Additional densified fiber components for use in a mattress innerspring include an innerspring corner coil reinforcement member which is made of densified fiber and which fits around the coils located at each of the four corners of the innerspring.
