摘要:
An ophthalmological measuring system, for obtaining biometric data of an eye, provided with the necessary calibration and check devices for monitoring the functionality and the calibration status. The ophthalmological measuring system includes an illumination source for illuminating an eye with light and with a sensor for recording and analyzing back-scattered or reflected light components and a controller. At least one calibration and check system integrated in the ophthalmological measuring system for monitoring the functional and calibration status is provided. A device is also provided which houses the calibration and test structures and which reads off the individual physical data therefrom by an interface. The ophthalmological measuring system is in particular provided for determining biometrical data but can also be used for ophthalmological, dermatological or other devices which require calibration and/or functional checking at regular intervals.

An instrument for measuring aberration refraction of an eye is provided, having: a lens system defining an instrument optical axis and an alignment device for aligning the visual axis of the eye with the instrument optical axis. A light source (1) produces a probing beam that is projected through the lens system parallel to the instrument optical axis and is selectably positionable partially off-set from the instrument optical axis for entering the eye (15) parallel to the instrument optical axis at a plurality of locations on the cornea of the eye. A photodetector (19) measures the position of probing beam light scattered back from the retina of the eye to measure aberration refraction of the eye at a plurality of locations.

An instrument for measuring aberration refraction of an eye is provided, having: a lens system defining an instrument optical axis and an alignment device for aligning the visual axis of the eye with the instrument optical axis. A light source produces a probing beam that is projected through the lens system parallel to the instrument optical axis and is selectably positionable partially off-set from the instrument optical axis for entering the eye parallel to the instrument optical axis at a plurality of locations on the cornea of the eye. A first photodetector measures the position of a first portion of the probing beam light scattered back from the retina of the eye to measure aberration refraction of the eye at a plurality of locations. A second photodetector synchronously measures the position of a second portion of the probing beam light reflected back from the cornea of the eye.

A quality control method for optometric measurements includes the following steps: (a) recording, via computer, a first record (14) that includes at least one first value of a first identifier (12), enabling identification of a glasses wearer (1), and at least one other value of another identifier (13) enabling identification of an optometric apparatus (15) on a first optometric measuring site (10); (b) carrying out at least one optometric measurement (16) of the wearer; (c) sending, to a second site (20), a digital measurement data set (18) including the optometric measurement result from step (b), the digital data set being linked, via computer, to the first record; and (d) digitally processing the optometric measurement result from the first record (14) on the basis of a digital data reference system (45) and the values of the respective identifiers of the glasses wearer and the optometric apparatus of the first record.

In one aspect, there is provided a handheld vision tester comprising a display, cursor control, interface port, and camera. The display delivers a series of images making up vision tests to a user who interacts with the vision tests by using the display and cursor control of the handheld vision tester. The camera verifies the user is taking the vision tests. The results of the vision tests are stored in the handheld communication device. The interface port allows for communication of the stored results of the vision tests with external devices. In another aspect, there is provided a calibration system for the handheld vision tester. The calibration system includes a stand to hold the handheld vision tester and a reflective surface substantially parallel to a display of the handheld vision tester.

A detector located on a positioning tray has a plurality of colored caps placed by a subject being tested. Each cap has a unique resonant circuit which is selectively energized to indicate cap position to the detector so that color discrimination of the subject may be determined.

Biosensor, communicator, and/or controller apparatus, systems, and methods are provided for monitoring movement of a person's eye. The apparatus includes a device configured to be worn on a user's head, a light source for directing light towards one or both eyes of the user, one or more image guides on the device for viewing one or both eyes of the user, and one or more cameras carried on the device and coupled to the image guides for acquiring images of the eyes and/or the user's surroundings. The apparatus may include a cable and/or a transmitter for transmitting image data from the camera to a remote location, e.g., to processor and/or display for analyzing and/or displaying the image data. A system including the apparatus may be used to monitor one or more oculometric parameters, e.g., pupillary response, and/or to control a computer using the user's eyes instead of a mouse.

A system, method and related devices for monitoring and improving the training and social eye contact and communication skills of developmentally challenged individuals such as autistic individuals and other individuals with special needs in improving their interpersonal communicating and other skills. A so called, TeachMe component of the system allows the defining of a students/patients long-term behavior or academic or social goal treatment in a hierarchical relationship of skills in treatment plans. It captures behavioral event within a ‘behavioral stream’ and in real time stores the ‘behavioral stream’ in a centralized database that can be accessed anywhere and anytime using the Internet. Procedures and materials used during the treatment are identified and data is stored in a central depository and can be displayed in a therapist's handheld device. The WatchMe component of the system and method monitors and obtains qualitative and quantitative information about the eye contact habits of a subject being trained or interviewed. It provides stimuli that promotes and encourages improvements in the eye contact habits of the subject.

A system and method for communication using movement of a person's eye, including an emitter for directing light towards an eye, a sensor for detecting emitted light from the emitter, and a processor coupled to the sensor for converting sequential light intensity signals received from the sensor into a stream of data, and/or for converting the signals into an understandable message. A radio frequency transmitter transmits the stream of data to a remote location, such as to a receiving and processing unit, which may store the stream of data, display a message in the stream of data, or use a command in the stream of data to control a piece of equipment. A self-contained detection device is also provided that includes a frame adapted to be worn on a person's head, and an emitter and a sensor, such as a solid state biosensor, on the frame for directing light towards and detecting light reflected off of the eye, respectively. A processor and a transmitter may be provided on the frame for converting an output signal from the sensor into a stream of data and for wirelessly transmitting the stream of data to a remote location.
