Abstract: A device may create an optical obstruction such as a haze for a predetermined amount of time in front of one or more eyes of the user and thereby trigger a blink response in the user. The device may include a lens having a plurality of layers and a sensor configured to detect a blink it at least one eye. At least one of the plurality of layers may include an electrodynamic layer in communication with the sensor. The electrodynamic layer may be configured to adjust the lens from a first state to a second state in response to a first signal from the sensor and from the second state back to the first state in response to a second signal from the sensor. The second state may include an at least partial obstruction of vision through the lens.

Abstract: The present systems and methods provide a mechanism to assess viewer behavior, features of stimuli, and the interaction between viewer behavior and stimuli. The systems and methods described herein for quantifying blink response and blink inhibition provide moment-by-moments measurements of viewer engagement by measuring what is or is not engaging enough to warrant viewers' inhibition of blinking. The present disclosure describes measures of visual scanning, eye movements, blink data, and blink timing data to derive a measure of how engaged a person is with what he or she is looking at. Blink-related data as a measure of viewer engagement provides a mechanism for determining the most engaging spatial and temporal aspects of a stimulus.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The system comprises a sensing arrangement and a control unit. The sensing arrangement collects eye movement data of a user. The control unit is in communication with the sensing arrangement and configured to compare the eye movement data to one or more baseline measurements of eye movement dynamics. The control unit is also configured to generate an alert indicating the presence or severity of the TBI for delivery to control unit administrator if the eye movement data diverges from one or more of the baseline measurements by a threshold amount.

Abstract: A method is implemented by a computing device for helping a particular user use a user interface (UI). Electroencephalography (EEG) data is obtained that indicates brain activity of a particular user during a period in which that user views the UI and/or interprets help information that describes how to use the UI. Based on the EEG data, the computing device selects, from among multiple predefined cognitive states, the one or more cognitive states that characterize the particular user during the period. The computing device assists the particular user to use the UI by customizing the help information for the particular user based on the one or more selected cognitive states. A complementary computing device and computer program product are also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for device and content management include determining a user is viewing virtual reality content from a user device, and receiving, through a network from the user device, body information associated with the user while the user is viewing the virtual reality content. A user device management configuration associated with the body information is determined. A user device management action is retrieved using the user device management configuration. A notification associated with the user device management action that causes the user device to perform the user device management action and modify the virtual reality content being viewed by the user is sent through the network to the user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to measure reaction times and/or responses for head, eye, eyelid movements, and/or changes in pupil geometry. The system includes eyewear or headwear including one or more eye-tracking cameras for monitoring the position and geometry of at least one eye and its components of the user, one or more scene cameras for monitoring the user's surroundings, and one or more processors to determine reaction times. Optionally, the system may include one or more of a multi-axis accelerometer to monitor head movements, light sources to trigger visual evoked responses, and/or electronic inputs that may be used to indicate the time of occurrence of external reference events. Measured reaction times and other measurements may be monitored for use in a range of applications. Responses and reaction times may be measured continuously over extended periods, even over a lifetime to measure consequences of the aging process.
