    摘要: A guide rod, which has a diameter expandable tip end portion and restricts the oscillation of a connecting rod and a piston, is inserted into a cylinder bore via an opening adjacent to a crank chamber of the cylinder bore, and the piston is inserted into the cylinder bore via a cylinder head mounting side opening with the connecting rod positioned at a leading end. The diameter of the tip end portion of the guide rod is increased in a hole of a semi-circular arc-shaped end portion positioned at tip end of the connecting rod in the insertion direction, and thus the connecting rod is engaged with the guide rod. The guide rod moves and the connecting rod is pulled into the cylinder bore until the semi-circular arc-shaped end portion of the connecting rod sits on a crankpin of a crankshaft.

The piston supply apparatus further includes a pressing unit pressing the piston top portion of the piston made to pivot to the upward state against the guide member.

The vision system detects central position coordinates of the cylinder bore lying at the piston inserting position and central position coordinates of the piston P lying at a start-point chuck position, and on the basis of both such central position coordinates calculates a movement quantity for insertion of the piston P into the cylinder bore.

    摘要: A work chucking/inserting apparatus 60 to be used for chucking a work (piston 62) and inserting the work into an insertion hole (cylinder bore) in alignment with the hole, including three or more chuck fingers 65, the chuck fingers 65 being arranged in circumferentially spaced positions and capable of advancing and retreating radially, inner surfaces of the chuck fingers 65 serving as chuck surfaces for chucking the work, and outer surfaces of the chuck fingers 65 being tapered at least at tip end portions thereof so that the closer to the tips, the more inwards the taper, and capable of coming into contact with an inlet of the insertion hole. The work chucking/inserting apparatus 60 further includes a tracer mechanism which causes the axis of a conical surface defined by the outer surfaces of the chuck fingers 65 to be aligned with the axis of the insertion hole when the outer surfaces of the chuck fingers 65 are put in contact with the inlet of the insertion hole, and a pushing mechanism for pushing the work toward the insertion hole. The work chucking/inserting apparatus can handles various sizes of works with a simple structure and that in a short time and a high working efficiency.

    摘要: A piston assembling apparatus includes a piston holding means including a guide tube portion which contains the piston and guides the piston into the cylinder bore. A guide tube support portion supports the guide tube portion to be displaceable in a radial direction thereof. A moving means moves at least one of the piston holding means and the cylinder block so as to locate them at an insertion preparation position where the guide tube portion and the cylinder bore are coaxial with each other. A pressing means presses the piston contained in the guide tube portion toward the cylinder block to insert the piston into the cylinder bore in a state in which the piston holding means and the cylinder block are located at the insertion preparation position, and the guide tube portion is supported by the guide tube support portion to be displaceable in the radial direction thereof.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for engine piston installation in which robots are used for the entire engine piston installation process. A first robot equipped with a stuffing gripper and force control picks up a piston with a connection rod, detects the piston ring presence, squeezes the rings, finds the engine cylinder bore, and stuffs the piston into the cylinder bore. A second robot can be used to load and unload the engine block, hold the block and position it to the location, and indexes the crankshaft into the proper orientation for each cylinder bore. A set of tools either fixed on a stationary station or on a third robot is used to guide the piston connecting rod, transport and place on the connecting rod cap, and fasten the cap onto the connecting rod. The piston connecting rod guiding process may be omitted in piston stuffing for some types of engines.
