During the connection of the rim to the bowl, the bowl is preferably supported on two opposing sides by the mold. A mold part and a core mold part are attached to said base of said stationary frame and to the lower surface of said base plate, respectively. Side mold parts are suspended by said suspending devices so as to be brought and aligned together when said suspending devices are moved towards each other, and said core mold part and said side mold parts in assembled state are adapted to be lowered by said lifting hydraulic cylinder means so that said side mold parts and said core mold parts are sequentially assembled with said bottom mold part and then clamped therewith.

A process for casting slip into a ceramic product using at least one unique casting mold. The casting mold is formed of a plurality of separate porous mold parts, each of which has a fluid-tight outer face, an inner molding surface and a plurality of channels therein. The mold parts are combined so that the inner molding surfaces define a molding cavity in the mold. The casting mold is positioned within a pressure container such that a space is established surrounding the casting mold within the pressure container. This space is in fluid communication with the molding cavity of the mold. The casting process further includes the steps of: sealing the pressure container; firmly clamping the casting mold; feeding slip under a first pressure into the molding cavity until the molding cavity is filled with slip; supplying a fluid under a second pressure higher than the first pressure into the space surrounding the casting mold thereby applying the second pressure to the slip in the molding cavity and to the inner molding surfaces of the mold parts to form a cast layer of a predetermined thickness within the molding cavity; depressurizing the channels to drain water accumulated therein; discharging residual slip from the molding cavity; and removing the casting mold from the pressure container.

A rotatable carriage for supporting split-type plaster molds used in the casting of ceramic hollow ware comprises two end frames and two normally oppositely facing supporting frames, one of the supporting frames being fixed to the end frames and the other supporting frame being pivotally mounted on the end frames to permit loading and unloading of the molds. The pivotally mounted supporting frame has an inflatable member on its inner face which, when inflated after the frame is locked in position, secures the molds in place while the carriage is rotated about its longitudinal axis to positions permitting the filling of the mold cavity, the emptying of excess casting slip from the mold cavity and the returning of the molds to a horizontal opening position. By handling the molds in this manner during filling, casting and emptying, a new casting method is obtained.

Pressure-casting bench for vitreous china sanitary fixtures having two guides on which mold parts travel in a horizontal direction, capable of pairing so as to bound a molding cavity, a set of guides or rails being provided for introducing into and removing from the cavities so bounded, additional mold parts known as mandrels. An upper support structure is provided capable of supporting a horizontal beam and causing it to travel in a plane at right angles to the plane defined by the guides under which all the mandrels are fixed in order to enter the molding cavities. A series of plates, spindles and springs are provided for the mandrels as well as a series of pegs for clamping the mandrels to the mold parts thereunder and encasing the molding cavities and subsequently releasing the mandrels from the mold parts.
