Abstract:
Method for compression molding plastic articles. The method includes the step of providing a plurality of molds mounted for travel around a first axis. Each mold includes upper and lower mold sections, with at least one of the mold sections being moveable in a non-circular first endless path, and being moveable with respect to the other mold section to form a mold cavity. A mold charge delivery system is provided to deliver individual mold charges to the mold cavities and includes at least one delivery mechanism that travels in a second endless path around a second axis spaced from the first axis, wherein the second endless path overlies a portion of the first endless path. At least one of the mold sections is moved radially relative to the first axis during at least a portion of the first endless path wherein the second endless path overlies the first endless path.
Abstract:
An apparatus for feeding a molten resin is operated for extended periods of time maintaining stability without permitting volatile components of the molten resin to adhere on the surfaces of conveyer means. An extruder in the apparatus for feeding the molten resin to the compression-forming machine has an extrusion unit which discharges a molten resin through an extrusion opening of an extrusion nozzle. An air injection nozzle for injecting the cooling gas is provided along the outer circumference of the extrusion nozzle, and the cooling gas is blown onto the surface of the molten resin extruded from the extrusion opening to cool the surface of the molten resin.
Abstract:
An apparatus for placing mold charges into a mold of a compression molding machine includes a carrier, an arm pivotally mounted on the carrier and a mold charge pick-up cup on the arm at a position spaced from the carrier. The arm is pivotal on the carrier between a first position at which the arm is positioned to deposit a mold charge into a mold and a second position at which the mold charge pick-up cup is disposed to transport the mold charge. The carrier preferably is mounted for rotation around an axis. In some embodiments, a cam mechanism is coupled to the arm to pivot the arm as a function of rotation of the carrier. A spring may be coupled between the arm and the carrier for biasing the arm toward one of the first and second positions of the arm. In another embodiment, an actuator is carried by the carrier and coupled to the arm to pivot the arm with respect to the carrier. The arm preferably includes a passage for selective application of air and/or vacuum to the mold charge pick-up cup.
Abstract:
A first transfer mechanism of a biaxial stretch blow-forming apparatus has sliders that are transported along a circular transportation passage. The sliders slide along a circular guide rail installed on a turntable. Each of the sliders is swung to left and right by a swing arm as the turntable rotates, and a feed pitch of a preform holding groove formed in a holding plate installed at an end of each of the sliders is changed. The feed pitch can be changed by a simple mechanism. Because the holding groove always faces a radial direction, receiving and handing over actions of a preform sent along the circular transportation passage can be reliably performed.
Abstract:
A system for transferring preforms to an oven starwheel of a blowmolding manufacturing facility includes a transport mechanism that is constructed and arranged to be able to hold at least one plastic preform member, a first sensor for sensing a transport speed of the oven starwheel, and a controller for controlling movement of the transport mechanism The controller receives input from the first sensor so that it may instruct the transport mechanism to transport a preform to the oven starwheel at a speed that will closely match the speed of the oven starwheel. The controller is also programmed to instruct the transport mechanism to receive preforms from a supply of preforms at a speed that is less than the speed of the oven starwheel. This reduces the potential for jamming at the interface between the preform supply and the transport mechanism.
Abstract:
A plastics introducing unit for a closure lining machine in which pellets are severed from a continuous rod and carried along part of a closed path to a transfer station where the pellets are deposited accurately centrally of the closures to be subsequently moulded into liners for the closures.
Abstract:
An apparatus for transferring doses includes a forming arrangement for forming an object from a dose of flowable material and a transferring arrangement for transferring the dose to the forming arrangement. The transferring arrangement has a recess for receiving the dose. The recess is provided with a rolling arrangement for guiding the dose inside the transferring arrangement.

Abstract:
An apparatus comprises a conveying device provided with seat elements arranged for receiving objects, the seat elements being movable along a curved path, and a further conveying device provided with a transferring arrangement arranged for delivering the objects to, and/or removing the objects from, the conveying device, wherein the transferring arrangement comprises coupling elements arranged for engaging the seat elements in such a way that the seat elements and the transferring arrangement are maintained mutually coupled along a portion of the curved path.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an adjustable star wheel and guide rail assembly for use with containers being processed on an automated handling line between machines such as rotary packaging machines. Star wheels derive their name from their general shape. The star wheels of this invention have fingers that support containers, such that they convey the containers as the star wheel rotates. Conveniently, the fingers of the present invention may be set in any position within their range of movement. In addition, a supporting guide rail may be adjusted, for example by rotation on cams. Thus, the fingers and the guide rail may be set to convey containers of varying sizes while keeping the container's centers travelling along the centerline of the conveyor.
