Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a winding drum for a sheet-like member which can change reliably the range of air sucking intake holes by a simple structure, and to provide a winding drum which can prevent the generation of an unwanted contact mark on the sheet-like member. This winding drum having a hollow portion which is in communication with the intake holes of the drum body, a changeover member which is releasably attached in the hollow portion and which is formed so as to extend along the inner peripheral surface of the hollow portion, and an air passage (second communicating holes, first communicating hole, and hole) which is provided on the changeover member and which communicates intake holes of a predetermined range in the axial direction of the drum body with the suction device when the changeover member is attached in the hollow portion. So the range of air sucking intake holes is switched by changing the changeover member to another changeover member with another air passage.

Abstract: A vacuum conveying apparatus capable of adhering and conveying a sticky material such as an intermediate process material for tire, and of immediately separating the same at a release position. Abstract: A device for holding an end portion of a band-like material comprising a frame, a suctional attraction roller rotatably supported by the frame and having a suctional attraction part at the periphery of the roller, and a pincher which is supported by the frame and can be moved toward and away from the peripheral surface of the roller. Abstract: A false drum servers used in the manufacture of tires having a hollow cylindrical drum with a perforated surface on the drum through which air is drawn. The drawn air creating a suction surface for holding flat or sheet materials that are to be cut before transferring onto a tire building drum. When smaller pieces of flat materials are being held on the drum, the perforations that are not covered allow air to flow freely into the drum, thereby reducing the suction adhering effect of the perforated surface. The present invention provides methods and apparatus for varying the amount of perforated area through which air can be drawn into the drum, thereby changing the amount of suction adhering surface area of the perforated drum.

Abstract: A strip winding system for a tire building machine which comprises a vertically swingable frame disposed below and forwardly of a tire building drum, a slide frame adapted to move back and forth along the longitudinal axis of the swing frame, which slide frame carries a strip transport belt, a longitudinally stationary cutting bed, a traveling cutter and a longitudinally movable cutting bed as disposed in that order, the cutting beds having suction orifices opening on the juxtaposed upper surfaces thereof, and a clamp means for fixing the conveyance run of the transport belt. Both of the cutting beds may be stationary in the longitudinal direction.
