摘要： A paper container according to the present invention includes a tab region half cut for defining a tab region of a shape whose lower part is closed and whose upper part is opened in the substantially central part of one of top folded-in side panels. A stopper is applied to an upper end of the tab region or near the upper end. The tab region is pulled from below after a pair of top folded-in side panels are separated apart, whereby a tab is formed, and the tab is pulled to split the seal between the top ribs and then the top folded-in ribs, and then the seal is opened. The tab region half cut is simply provided, and a stopper is simply provided for prohibiting breakage of the tab. The tab is not raised until the seal is opened, so that the tab does not interfere with manufacturing the container.

Drive rolls pull the web under tension through a slitter mechanism to slit strips from opposite edges of the web. The slit strips are shifted laterally inwardly over the web by guides and glued back on the web so that, when the web is transversely severed to form the inserts and attached to the bottle carrier blank, the strips will lie between the bottle contact points at the center cell.

The stiffening patches for the reclosable bag mouth end can be applied to a strip of sheet material for making bags at the time that the bags are formed and filled by clipping from a strip of patch-making material patch pieces having pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side. Such patch pieces are transferred from a clipper onto the bag-making material by a revolving transfer member having a suction pick-up to pick up a patch piece and a blow subsequently detaches the patch piece from the transfer member and deposits it onto the strip of bag-making material.

摘要： Apparatus and method for applying an adhesive laminate to a plate are disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, the invention comprises a cylindrical drum having a circular periphery of a porous material, a connection for applying a vacuum to the interior of the drum, and a laminate supplying assembly to supply an adhesive laminate, adhesive side outward, to the periphery of the drum where it is securely retained in place by the vacuum. A cutter assembly cuts the laminate into a segment having a desired length which is then positioned in place by a rotation of the drum. A walking beam conveyor conveys individual plates onto a vertically movable platform located at an operating station. The platform is then raised to contact an end of the plate with an end of the positioned laminate segment and then is lowered to an intermediate position so as to remove only the end of the segment adhering to the plate from the drum. A roller assembly then rolls the laminate segment onto the plate.

摘要： A process for forming an easy-opening arrangement for gable-top cartons is described. A tape is applied to the inside of the pouring spout in order to stiffen the panels, while reducing the force required to separate the thermoplastic seal. The tape is bonded to the thermoplastic surface layer of the carton by an adhesive. During the hot air heating of the carton top prior to sealing, the area where the tape is located is not exposed to the hot air. During closing of the sealing jaws, surfaces on the opposed faces of the sealing jaw urge the adhesive into the space above the edge of the pouring spout to form an impermeable seal. The location of the tape on the carton blank and the apparatus for heating and sealing the carton are also described.

Cutting blades are included in the perforate outer sleeve to sever patch material from a roll as the vacuum cylinder rotates. The outer perforate sleeve is replaceable with sleeves of different outside diameters to accommodate different patch locations.

The apparatus includes the revolving roll, at least one rotatable platen on, and revolvable with the revolvable roll, a feeding apparatus for feeding the continuous ribbon to circumferential engagement with the revolving roll, a cutting roll and an applicator roll revolving in synchronizm with the revolving roll. The cutting roll has at least one cutting blade which cuts the ribbon at a cutting surface or anvil on the rotatable platen. The applicator roll, disposed on an opposite side of the sheet, has at least one striking member which strikes the sheet at an area on which the discrete length is to be transferred.

摘要： A method and apparatus are disclosed for the manufacture of a colored chip or colored swatch bearing sheet, i.e. a color chart, comprising a base sheet bearing an array of adhesively attached colored chips in rows with indicia identifying the color of each chip with a particular paint. The base sheets are fed automatically from a stack of sheets to an adhesive applying means which applies spots of adhesive to the sheet at swatch receiving areas on the sheet. Narrow webs or ribbons of swatch material are severed to form the individual swatches or color chips which then are transferred automatically to a passing sheet and applied thereto. The sheets pass through a series of swatch forming and applying stations with a row of swatches being applied to each sheet at each of the respective stations. Preferably, the sheets are fed continuously and at a relativey fast rate of speed. The arrangement and size of the swatches may be easily changed to allow the apparatus to be used for various types of color charts.
