Abstract:
A system for packing a human-powerable vehicle uses an inner annular module that can be incorporated into a wheel. The inner annular module has a open central region, attachment points for steel spokes in tension that radiate out from the annular module, and a feature to facilitate the detachable attachment of a hub by a user, so that a user detachable hub can be installed in the open central region when the annular module is used as part of a vehicle wheel. Removal of the hub facilitates the placement of the module over the axle of a second wheel. The attachment points for the spokes that radiate outward are in a circular configuration that is concentric with the center of the annular module. The attachment points for the spokes are on two parallel planes.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a vehicle wheel (1) comprising a fibre reinforced polymer rim (2) for receiving a tire at its radially outer side (3). The rim (2) comprises an outer rim flange (4), an outer rim seat (5), a frusto-conical plane (6) inclined at an angle a relative to the rotational axis (7) of the wheel of between 1 and 90 Q, an inner rim seat (8) and an inner rim flange (9). A wheel hub (10) is connected to the rim (2) via a metal support element (11). The support element (11) is connected with the rim (2) through at least one connecting element (12) which extends through a radially elongated opening (13) in the frusto conical plane (6) of the rim (2) and is received in the support element (11). The support element (11) may alternatively be connected with the rim (2) through at least three connecting elements (12) which extend through radially elongated openings (13) in the support element (11).
Abstract:
A wheel supporting device includes: a hub unit that has a rotary ring having a first spline on its axially inner end face; and a joint that has an outer ring having a second spline, meshing with the first spline, on its axially outer end face. At least one projection included in a plurality of projections of the first spline projects in the axial direction by a larger amount than the remaining projections of the first spline. When a crest of the at least one projection contacts a crest of one of projections of the second spline, a play is caused between the rotary ring and the outer ring due to the at least one projection that works as a fulcrum.
Abstract:
A device and method for assisting a user in aircraft wheel assemblies is disclosed herein. The device enables a single user to readily connect two wheel sections in a split wheel assembly. The device is lightweight and reusable and preferably includes two bushings, two washers, a bolt, and a nut. After inserting the bolt through the wheel sections, a nut can be tightened, thereby creating a compressive force that compresses the bushings and the wheel sections together. While the wheel sections are compressed together, a plurality of tie bolts and tie nuts can be installed on the wheel sections to complete the wheel assembly.
Abstract:
A lug nut removal tool for applying rotational force on all lug nuts is shown having a circular frame member, a drive lug, a drive gear, and a plurality of transfer assemblies that each include an adjustable sockets. In one embodiment, rotation of the drive lug actuates the drive gear, thereby causing the each discrete transfer assembly to rotate. The transfer assemblies each include an adjustable socket for engaging a corresponding lug nut on a target wheel. In operation, each socket is first aligned with a corresponding lug nuts on a target vehicle wheel, locked in place, and then turned through the rotational force applied to the drive lug that is transferred to the its integrated transfer assembly by way of the drive gear.

Abstract:
The present invention teaches an apparatus and method of use for a highly efficient bicycle skewer. In each of three separate embodiments an insert moves laterally with respect to a captive nut in such a way as to provide the necessary clearance required to remove a wheel or attach a wheel to a bicycle frame. The apparatus is constructed in such a way as to allow the removal and attachment without the need for adjustment of the skewer as is required by the prior art devices and is suitable for both front and rear wheels.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to tire servicing operations and, more specifically, to a tire servicing cage for maintaining, repairing, changing, and inflating tires. The servicing cage may include a frame assembly secured to a base plate. A counterweight assembly may be coupled to the frame assembly to assist with moving the cage from an open position to a closed position. Further, the base plate may include a post member having a pivoting head configured to receive a rim of a tire. Advantageously, the servicing cage may prevent debris from discharging outside of frame assembly and accommodate maintaining, repairing, changing, and inflating wheel assemblies of different diameters.
Abstract:
A wheel weight assembly mounts to a vehicle wheel disk section. The wheel weight assembly includes an annular starter weight mounted to the wheel disk section. The starter weight has mounting bores extending therethrough and centering taps projecting therefrom. The assembly also includes threaded members, nut members, an outer weight and attaching bolts. The starter weight includes a plurality of depressions. Each depression receives and prevents rotation of a nut member. Each threaded member extends through a corresponding one of the mounting bores and into a corresponding one of the nut members. The outer weight has attaching bores and centering recesses which receives the centering tabs. Each attaching bolt extends through a corresponding one of the attaching bores and is threadably received by a corresponding one of the nut members.
Abstract:
A roller platform for use in a tire inflation cage includes a frame and at least one roller assembly and facilitates the rotation of a rim-wheel within the tire inflation cage. The roller platform includes a frame having members that are spaced so that the tire stop on a tire inflation cage fits between the frame members. The roller platform includes cross members that are spaced so that the cross members fit between adjacent bars of a tire inflation cage and so a bar fits between the cross members.
