    摘要: A sheet transport assembly is provided for transporting a sheet along a process unit configured for applying a process to the sheet. The sheet transport assembly comprises a conveying unit comprising a transport belt, which transport belt comprises air permeable openings, the sheet being placed with a contact side on a support surface of the transport belt; a separating unit for separating the sheet from the transport belt, the separating unit comprising a blowing unit connected to an air supply source and arranged adjacent the transport belt to direct a detach air flow through said air permeable openings of the transport belt in a detach area to lift the sheet from the transport belt; and a control unit configured for controlling the units of the sheet transport assembly. The separating unit further comprises a sheet attraction unit arranged for attracting the sheet to the support surface of the transport belt in two attraction areas. Said two attraction areas are cooperatively arranged adjacent to both sides of the detach area in a lateral direction, which is substantially perpendicular to the transport direction. The separating unit further comprises a sheet guidance element arranged facing the support surface of transport belt for separating a leading edge of the sheet from the transport belt, the sheet guidance element comprising a tip arranged proximate to the detach area.

    摘要: Air flows are jetted at leading edge of sheets from nozzles aligned along the widthwise direction of the sheets so as to separate the bottommost or uppermost sheet from the remaining sheets. When the sheets are large-sized, all the aligned nozzles form the air flows for separating the sheets. When the air flows from all the nozzles are jetted at the small-sized sheets, the sheets are liable to flap. Accordingly, the nozzles arranged near the both ends are closed, so that only the nozzles jetting the air flows to effectively separate the small-sized sheets are used.

    摘要: A device for adding controlled amounts of moisture to one or both sides of a copy sheet. The device includes a pair of water jets, a reservoir for storing a quantity of liquid and connected to the water jet, a pair of generally cylindrical, pressure rolls, each having an outer cylindrical surface with the rolls being aligned with respect to one another along their axes so as to define a nip between the outer cylindrical surfaces, and a controller for controlling application of water from the water jets to selected portions of each sheet passing thereunder before each sheet enters the nip formed between the outer cylindrical surfaces. Alternatively, the water jets could apply the liquid to the cylindrical surfaces of the pressure rolls.

The device including a transfer roll that mates with a back-up roll to form a nip through which a sheet passes for wetting a side of the sheet. A metering roll mates with the transfer roll and has a portion thereof positioned in a liquid filled sump for liquid to be added to an outside surface thereof. An optical sensor is positioned to detect the type of reflected light from the liquid on the outside surface of the metering roll and gives off a signal that is received by a controller that actuates a stepper motor to move the metering roll in a predetermined direction until the correct liquid thickness is obtained on the surface of the metering roll.
