摘要: In a method for recovering lithium hydroxide from a lithium secondary battery, cathode powder is prepared from a cathode of the lithium secondary battery. A cathode active material mixture is prepared by mixing the cathode powder with a calcium compound. The cathode active material mixture is reduced to form a preliminary precursor mixture. A lithium precursor is recovered from the preliminary precursor mixture. Therefore, a lithium precursor can be obtained with high purity without a complicated leaching process or an additional process, which result from a wet-based acid solution process.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for reprogramming a somatic cell (e.g. a pancreatic ductal cell, a skin fibroblast or a keratinocyte) to a pancreatic β-cell. This method involves decreasing expression or activity of Fbw7 and/or decreasing phosphorylation-mediated degradation of NGN3 in the somatic cell. The method may be carried out ex vivo or in vivo. The invention also relates to a method of treating a subject with a metabolic disorder (e.g. diabetes) or a subject at risk of a metabolic disorder by administering somatic cells that have been re-programmed to pancreatic β-cells using methods described herein to the subject. In addition, the invention relates to screening methods for identifying a candidate agent for reprogramming a somatic cell to a pancreatic β-cell.

摘要: A method for extracting ions from an active material for use in a battery electrode includes mixing the active material and an activating compound to form a mixture. The mixture is annealed such that an amount of ions is extracted from the active material, an amount of oxygen is liberated from the active material, and an activated active material is formed. Embodiments of the invention include the activated active material, the electrode, and the primary and secondary batteries formed from such activated active materials.
