    摘要: A method of making a thermally-removable polyurethane material by heating a mixture of a maleimide compound and a furan compound, and introducing alcohol and isocyanate functional groups, where the alcohol group and the isocyanate group reacts to form the urethane linkages and the furan compound and the maleimide compound react to form the thermally weak Diels-Alder adducts that are incorporated into the backbone of the urethane linkages during the formation of the polyurethane material at temperatures from above room temperature to less than approximately 90° C. The polyurethane material can be easily removed within approximately an hour by heating to temperatures greater than approximately 90° C. in a polar solvent. The polyurethane material can be used in protecting electronic components that may require subsequent removal of the solid material for component repair, modification or quality control.

    摘要: Open-cell structures are filled with polyimide foam formed in place by the use of a foam precursor in powdered form comprised of a combination of (a) the reaction product of an excess of organic polyisocyanate and a member selected from the group consisting of furfuryl alcohol and condensation products thereof, and (b) an organic polycarboxylic compound containing two carboxylic anhydride groups. The precursor is prepared by combining the species under conditions which favor the reaction of the furfuryl alcohol with the polyisocyanate, but not the polyimide-forming reaction. The polyimide-forming reaction itself is then performed by adding preselected amounts of the powdered precursor, depending on the desired ultimate density of the foam, to each cell of the open-cell structure, then heating to initiate the polyimide reaction, and permitting the carbon dioxide generated by the reaction to escape while confining the resulting foam to the cells.

    摘要: This invention relates to novel furan polyols, which are characterized in that they are the product of reaction of a strain selected from the group or consisting of a polyalcohol, a monoamine or polyamine, said polyalcohol or said amine possibly containing a furan cycle and mixtures thereof with a chain extension agent constituted by an organic epoxide, with the proviso that this organic epoxide is a furannic oxiran when this polyalcohol does not contain a furan cycle with the exclusion of 2,5(bis-hydroxy)furan as sole strain, when the chain extension agent does not contain any furan cycle. These furan polyols are used for the preparation of polyurethane foams having improved properties.
