摘要: MPO1 and MPO2 can be regulated for either decreasing or increasing alkaloid levels in plants, in particular in Nicotiana plants. In particular, suppressing or overexpressing one or more of MPO1 and MPO2 may be used to decrease or increase nicotine and nicotinic alkaloid levels in tobacco plants. Suppression or overexpression of one or more of MPO1 and MPO2 may be used in combination with modification of expression of other genes encoding enzymes on the nicotinic alkaloid biosynthetic pathway such as A622, NBB1, PMT, and QPT.

摘要: Methods are provided for preparing a library of candidate plant disease resistance (R) genes against a plant pathogen of interest. The methods involve selecting from each of one or more plants of interest a subpopulation of highly expressed nucleotide-binding leucine rich repeat genes (NLRs) from among the population of NLRs that are constitutively expressed in an organ or other part of the one or more plants to produce a library of candidate R genes. Further provided are related methods for identifying R genes against a plant pathogen of interest using a library of candidate R genes and compositions comprising the identified R genes.
