    摘要: A surface conditioning composition is provided in which a titanium phosphate compound can be stored in the state of a dispersion liquid for a long period of time while being stably present in the dispersion liquid, with favorable stability also in the bath, and with the composition being capable of forming a conversion coating film in a sufficient amount of the film even in the case of application to conversion resistant metal materials such as high-tensile steel sheets. A conversion coating film in a sufficient amount of the coating film can be formed with favorable dispersibility by blending an amine compound having a specified structure, an aromatic organic acid, a phenolic compound, a phenolic resin and the like in a surface conditioning composition, which contains the titanium phosphate compound and has a specified pH.

    摘要: The invention is a process for applying a phosphate coating to a metal substrate in which the metal substrate is contacted with an aqueous activating bath before the phosphate coating is applied. The improved process is obtained by applying ultrasonic vibration energy to the aqueous activating bath.     摘要: An otherwise conventional Jernstedt salt dispersion for activating metal surfaces to improve the quality of subsequently deposited phosphate conversion coatings on the activated metal surface is stabilized against deterioration in storage for at least six months by utilizing in the dispersion a mixture of sodium and potassium salts, preferably condensed phosphate salts, in such amounts that the ratio of potassium to titanium is within the range from 8.0:1.0 to 40:1.0 and the ratio of potassium to sodium is within the range from 0.9:1.0 to about 2.5:1.0.

    摘要: Compositions and process for activating metal surfaces prior to coating with zinc phosphate are disclosed. A Jernstedt salt concentrate is provided which can be employed to prepare Jernstedt salt baths of the type desired by combining the concentrate with additional alkali metal phosphate. Improved activation of metal surfaces are achieved by incorporating a chloride ion producing compound in the activating bath.
