The present invention provides fabrics with cut loop pile comprising a core yarn of a synthetic multifilament yarn and covering yarn of a split microfiber yarn and a manufacturing method thereof. The core yarn at the section where said loops are cut is outwardly protruded from the covering yarn, wherein the synthetic multifilament core yarn has been separated into multiple filaments to function as hooks. The fabrics with cut loop pile show superior characteristics in polishing properties, sliding properties, water absorption properties, rapid drying properties and feeling of touch since polishing can be performed while easily catching foreign substances such as extremely minute dust particles or human hairs and the like by the hook-shaped multifilaments of the core yarn. Thus the fabrics with cut loop pile according to the present invention can be used usefully in products such as various kind of mats, towels, bathroom products, and the like including dishcloths and mops.

A yarn component containing at least one filament is prepared by:selecting at least one partially oriented, undrawn synthetic filament having a birefringence of at least 20.times.10.sup.-3 and an elongation at break of 70-200%, andsubjecting the thus-selected filament or filaments to a heat treatment at 100.degree.-180.degree. C. under tension. The resulting yarn component has a degree of elasticity under a load of 5 cN/tex of less than 50%, which causes the yarn to be especially well suited for use in formable sheet structures.

An improved high speed process for texturing continuous filament yarn is provided wherein the improvement comprises cooling the yarn, subsequent to texturing and prior to applying tension, by contact for at least 4 milliseconds with a curved surface at a temperature of -29.degree. to 2.degree. C. and an RMS of up to 10, frictional forces creating a yarn tension of 0.036 to 0.45 gram per denier per end at the surface. Apparatus is also provided for cooling the continuous filament yarn subsequent to texturing and prior to applying tension. The apparatus comprises a curved surface having a minimum length for yarn contact of 7.6 cm, an RMS of up to 10 and a temperature of -29.degree. to 2.degree. C. Textured yarn brought into contact with the surface for at least 4 milliseconds at a yarn tension of 0.036 to 0.045 gram per denier per end is cooled to increase yarn stability and prevent pullout of yarn texture.

A process for making yarns bulked in a hot fluid jet more uniform in bulk comprises cooling the hot and bulked yarn on a moving screen with a water mist followed by passing the wet yarn under a tension of 0.01-0.05 gpd through a turbulent forwarding jet of steam and then through a cooling stream of air which impinges perpendicularly on the yarn while the yarn is moving under slightly greater tension of about 0.02-0.15 gpd and then wound up under normal packaging tension.

Integrated process for continuous spinning, drawing and texturizing of synthetic linear high molecular weight polyamide polymers, in which the following steps are effected in immediate succession:(a) melt-spinning filaments of said synthetic linear high polyamide polymers, preferably poly-.epsilon.-caprolactam, at temperatures of between 260.degree. and 295.degree. C and a spin-draw ratio of between 1:10 and 1:60,(b) drawing the spun filaments on at least two forwarding elements, of which the initial element has a surface temperature of between 50.degree. and 120.degree. C, at a draw ratio such that the drawn filament, on leaving the drawing stage, has an extensibility of between 10 and 50% and preferably of between 20 and 35%, and(c) texturizing said filaments at a velocity of between 800 and 3,000 m/min by an air jet process and preferably between 1,600 and 2,000 m/min, the overfeed in the texturizing stage being from 10 to 50% at a filament temperature, prior to texturization, of between 50.degree. and 180.degree. C and preferably of between 100.degree. to 130.degree. C.

Apparatus for treating a textile yarn comprises an endless flexible support member mounted for movement around a closed path, means for laying a textile yarn onto a surface of said support member, a treatment vessel to engage with and completely enclose successive yarn-receiving portions of said surface, means for moving said portions stepwise into and out of said treatment vessel, and a yarn take-off apparatus operable to withdraw treated yarn from said portions. The endless flexible support member may be mounted for intermittent stepwise movement or for continuous movement around a closed path.
