摘要: The device comprises in combination: an interlacing jet for reciprocally joining the covering yarn and the elastic yarn; supporting elements for spools of elastic yarn; winding members for winding the composite yarn on a developing cop; a device for interrupting the feeding of composite yarn to the developing cop and starting the winding of the composite yarn on a new winding tube. The supporting elements for the spools of elastic yarn are suitable for arranging at least one first spool of elastic yarn in a working position and at least a second spool of elastic yarn in a standby position and for transferring the second spool from the standby position to the working position. Furthermore, a retaining member is arranged near the interlacing jet to withhold an initial free end of the elastic yarn of the second spool in standby position. Elements are also provided for introducing the elastic yarn of the second spool in the interlacing jet.

摘要: A permanently flame-retardant and anti-microbial air-textured yarn is formed of a plurality of substantially longitudinally extending, permanently flame-retardant filaments defining a core, and a plurality of substantially randomly extending, permanently anti-microbial filaments disposed at least about the core, the anti-microbial filaments at least partially defining a boucle-like sheath about the core. A knit or woven fabric formed with the yarn and having at lease 5% by weight of the anti-microbial filaments is characterized by an ability to pass, both after one commercial laundering and after 100 commercial launderings, both National Fire Protection Agency vertical flame retardancy test NFPA 701-1989 and at least the 85% reduction level of gram positive and gram negative bacteria of anti-microbial test NYS 63.

摘要: An apparatus and method for the manufacture of a mixed yarn consisting of two components, continuous filament yarn and staple fibers. The mixed yarn is manufactured by an air jet texturing process. It has been possible to bind the staple fibers undisplaceably into the yarn, and this is ensured by the loops on the continuous filaments produced during texturing. Owing to the formation of a suction zone of the airstream directly before the beginning of actual texturing, the staple fibers can be sucked in and can be blended into the interior of the yarn and can be secured firmly in the yarn by the loops. The invention relates to a new method of manufacture and to an apparatus, or an entire machine, with which the known loop yarn or the new mixed yarn can now be manufactured selectively.

摘要: Method and apparatus to produce a plied, air textured continuous filament yarn by severing the supply yarn upon the detection of a drop in tension. When the tension in the yarn being processed drops, the position of the running yarn will be detected by a photocell unit which will actuate a cutter upon such detection to sever the yarns being supplied to the air texturing machine. The method and apparatus provide that the drop in tension has to occur for a predetermined length of time or occur a multiplicity of times before the cutter is actuated.

摘要: A bulking process for glass fiber strands is provided which allows for increased bulking speed while reducing any decrease in the tensile strength of the bulked glass fiber strand yarn. The process involves conveying treated glass fibers having one or more water soluble, emulsifiable or dispersible thermoplastic materials having a melting or softening point of greater than around 100.degree. F. (37.degree. C.), one or more cationic lubricants and water to a heater to melt or soften the thermoplastic material present on the fibers, bulking the heated glass fiber strand, removing the bulked glass fiber strand at a rate less than the rate of conveyance to bulking, and collecting the bulked glass fiber strand yarn. The treated strand being conveyed to the heater can already be dried or can be wet. After removal from bulking, the glass fiber strand can be treated with a chemical treatment to assist in retarding any additional decrease in tensile strength of the bulked glass fiber strand. The heating of the treated strand can occur before or after the strand is conveyed at a faster rate to bulking than the rate of removal from bulking. The product of the process is a bulked glass fiber strand yarn having a reduced decrease in tensile strength due to bulking.

摘要: A process for manufacturing a bulky flat yarn comprising: preparing at least two kinds of thermoplastic synthetic undrawn yarns having different natural draw ratios, respectively; simultaneously drawing said prepared yarns at a draw ratio which is equal to or larger than the smallest natural draw ratio of the yarns and which is equal to or smaller than the largest natural draw ratio; and releasing drawing tension in the yarns after they are drawn. The yarns are mixed by means of an interlacing air nozzle before or after they are drawn.

摘要: A new process is provided for producing highly resilient, textured, continuous multifilament polymeric yarns and combinations of such yarns with other continuous filament yarns and with spun yarns. The unstable or wild loops which form in conventional air jet textured yarns are substantially eliminated in the product yarns of this invention. The product yarns are formed by continuously drawing polymeric yarn under controlled temperature conditions, texturing the yarn in an air jet texturizer and subjecting the textured yarn to saturated steam while restraining the linear shrinkage of the yarn in the presence of the steam, followed by continuous take-up of the yarn on a package.
