摘要: An expansion joint system for bridging an expansion joint gap between two spaced-apart, underlying building or roadway structures. The expansion joint system includes a cover plate, at least one swing arm, sliding bearings engaged with the swing arms, and fasteners for engaging the swing arms to the cover plate. The swing arms include a receiving well configured for receiving a mechanical fastener to fasten the swing arms to the cover plate. The expansion joint system permits movement in response to a seismic or thermal event that causes expansion or contraction of the gap between structural members while maintaining coverage of the gap, and following a seismic or thermal event, the maintains a substantially-centered position of the cover plate.

摘要: An expansion joint seal includes a central portion having at least one central chamber disposed around a centerline, a first flange portion extending outwardly from the centerline and a second flange portion extending outwardly from the centerline in a direction opposite the first flange portion. When installed on the structure, the first flange portion is attachable to a first substrate of the structure and the second flange portion is attachable to a second substrate of the structure such that the central portion is disposed within and seals a gap formed between the first substrate and the second substrate of the structure. Movement of one or both of the first substrate and the second substrate causes a response in the central portion to maintain the seal.

摘要: An acoustic seal for a sound flanking path between an interior architectural separation and a mullion. A seal body is configured as an elongated rail having a base rail portion and a side rail portion. The base rail portion has sides defining a first seal surface for engaging a first interior side of the mullion, and a second seal surface for engaging an end wall of the architectural separation. The side rail portion has sides defining a third seal surface substantially non-parallel with respect to the first seal surface for engaging a second interior side of the mullion, and a fourth seal surface in substantially coplanar relationship with the second seal surface for engaging the end wall of the architectural separation. The first and third seal surfaces may form an inside seal corner for enveloping an outside corner of the mullion defined by the mullion's first and second interior sides.

摘要: A bendable cover assembly for an expansion joint gap in a tread and riser application includes an elongated resilient cover for bridging a gap between underlying structural members. A plurality of spaced-apart rigid plate members are encapsulated within, or otherwise are engaged with, the elongated cover of the cover assembly. Additional bendable plate members may be positioned on opposite lateral sides of the plurality of spaced-apart rigid plate members. The cover has a thickness and sufficient elasticity to elastically deform for establishing supporting contact between the marginal support areas of the cover and the underlying structural members. Fasteners may be engaged with the cover at spaced apart sites along at least one lateral side portion thereof for elastically anchoring the elongated resilient cover to at least one of the underlying structural members.

摘要: A fire blanket for use in an expansion or seismic joint cover system. The cover includes a first layer made of flame retardant material, a second layer made of thermal resistant material, and a third layer made of an insulating material. A fourth layer may be placed over the third layer if desired and would also be made of a flame retardant material. The first, second, and if used, fourth layers includes folded over portions to form pleats. The pleats within each layer are offset relative to pleats within the other layers. During lateral movement of the sections of structure forming the expansion or seismic joint, the pleats allow the fire blanket to expand longitudinally without tearing.

摘要: A seismic expansion joint cover for concealing an expansion gap between building members comprises retainers attached to building members on each side of the expansion gap and a cover spanning the expansion gap and overlying at least portions of the first and second retainers and a portion of the building member on at least one side of the gap. The cover is attached to the retainers by releasable fasteners, such as hook and loop fasteners, that enable it to detach completely from the retainers in an earthquake and to be subsequently reattached. One element of each of the fasteners on one side of the gap is attached to a slider that slides along a track affixed to the internal side of the cover to enable normal thermal expansions and contractions of the gap. Tethers keep the cover from falling to the floor and becoming an obstacle to persons moving through the building.

摘要: Seam forming apparatus for assembling flexible expansion joint systems of the type used in bridges and roadways and often referred to as strip seals. The expansion joint systems generally include a pair of rigid rails each of which has an involute channel formed therein and a flexible seal gland which is disposed between the rails. The seal gland includes a compressible head section formed along each of its edges which is adapted for being received in the involute channels to form an interlocking seam therewith. The apparatus of the invention includes a rotatable disc having a plurality of spaced-apart teeth about its circumference, the teeth being adapted for engaging a short portion of a shoulder defined by the compressible head. Pushing means are provided which permit the operator of the apparatus to force a short portion of the compressible head into position in the involute channel, thus forming a short portion of the interlocking seam. Thereafter, rotation of the disc permits the remainder of the interlocking seam to be formed in a sequentially zipper-like manner.
