A throttle body for an engine or fuel cell of a vehicle is provided. The throttle body comprises a cylindrical housing comprising a first open end extending to a second open end defining an inner wall having an inner surface. The throttle body further comprises a moveable blade valve movably disposed on the inner wall and arranged to regulate air to the engine during operation of the vehicle. The moveable blade valve has an outer surface. The throttle body further comprises a dual-phase thermal composite coating (TCC) disposed on one of the inner surface of the inner wall and outer surface of the moveable blade valve for enhanced thermal conductivity and reduced deposit accumulation on the inner surface and the outer surface. The dual-phase TCC comprises a first material comprising between 10 wt % and 90 wt %, and a second material comprising between 10 wt % and 90 wt % of the dual-phase TCC. The dual phase TCC has a contact angle of between 100° and 160° and a thermal conductivity of at least 0.3 W/mK.

The throttle valve is rotatably assembled in a bore wall part of the throttle body while the throttle valve is rotated by a predetermined rotation angle θ between 45° and 135° with respect to a rotation angle 0° corresponding to its full close position. An outer circumferential periphery of the filler, which is molded to be the throttle valve in a cavity of the molding dies, is compressed by a predetermined pressure when the throttle valve and the throttle body are molded. Thus, dispersion of contraction of the throttle valve can be reduced in its molding process by adding the compression process.

Provided is a throttle valve device for an internal combustion engine which is favorably protected from icing, and enables a favorable control of the intake flow rate by avoiding an abrupt increase in the flow rate particularly in a small opening angle range. An upstream recess (21) and a downstream recess (22) are formed in a lower part of the throttle bore (11) of the throttle valve device. Moisture that may deposit on the inner wall of the throttle bore is allowed to be drained to the recesses. A cross sectional area of one of the recesses over which the lower edge of the throttle valve member sweeps as the throttle valve member (30) opens from the fully closed position is smaller than that of the other recess so that an abrupt change in the intake flow rate can be avoided in a small opening angle region.

The valve gates are symmetrically located with respect to the throttle valve shaft. A deformation of the throttle valve can be avoided because a stress concentration on the metal shaft of the throttle valve is reduced in opening the dies.
