Abstract: An adapter for an air valve, such as an idle air control valve, has a rigid tubular member extending between a distal insertion end and an attachment pedestal end. The insertion member, or distal end, is rigidly attached to an air passage of a throttle body and an idle air control valve is rigidly attached to the attachment end. This allows an idle air control valve to be rigidly mounted to a throttle body while being displaced from the throttle body and held in a non contact association with the throttle body to allow different variations and styles of idle air control valve to be used with various types of throttle bodies.

Abstract: A carburetor in which no deviation or change occurs in the adjusted position of a fuel regulating needle valve and when a cap for limiting the adjustment is mounted on the fuel regulating valve the cap cannot be intentionally broken or removed. A flow area of a fuel pasage of a carburetor body is adjusted by a needle valve received in a threaded hole in the body. Adjacent the threaded hole the carburetor body has a cylindrical cavity having a larger diameter than that of the threaded hole. A larger-diameter threaded portion is provided on the needle valve adjacent its head. A stop ring in contact with a shoulder in the cylindrical cavity is fitted on the larger-diameter threaded portion of the valve. A cup-shaped cap is fitted on the serrated head of the fuel regulating valve. An axial protrusion formed on the outer peripheral wall of the cap is engaged with an axial groove opening into the peripheral wall of the cylindrical cavity. A retaining plate having an opening through which the cap can be inserted is fixed to the outer end wall of the cylindrical cavity of the carburetor body.

Abstract: An idling device for a carburettor having an emulsion channel with a feed nozzle, most advantageously, a de Laval nozzle, constituting the smallest section size of the emulsion channel and a concentric port surrounding the nozzle which feeds additional air from over the throttle of the carburettor by a connection channel. The emulsion channel possesses a measurement section controlled by a needle which feeds additional air from the connection channel and at times an inlet of air from the connection channel for blocking fuel outflow. The air inlet is opened by a valve when the negative pressure under the throttle is higher than the negative pressure during idling of the engine.

Abstract: An improved idling system for a carburetor in which the idling fuel is directed into the carburetor or manifold at a point spaced downstream from the throttle valve, and an air bleed modulation passageway for conducting air to a position adjacent the outlet of the idling fuel for controlling the air pressure at the idling fuel outlet for controlling the idle fuel flow rate. The air modulation passageway varying the idle fuel delivery as a function of throttle position and manifold pressure. A vortex chamber having a tangential air inlet for receiving and atomizing the idle fuel and air. Various tail pipe modifications may be connected to the outlet of the vortex for varying the fuel delivery characteristics. A convergent-divergent passageway may be provided between the idle fuel-air mixture prior to its injection into the intake manifold. Hot exhaust gases may be injected into the idle fuel-air mixture for better atomization, and exhaust gas may be used to externally heat the air-gas mixture. The idling fuel-air mixture may be conducted to each of the intake valves on each cylinder for correctly controlling the fuel-air ratio in each cylinder for reducing vehicle emissions.

Abstract: A carburetor for an internal-combustion engine, equipped with an accelerator-controlled butterfly valve in a mixing channel, has a first fuel-injection nozzle downstream and a second fuelinjection nozzle upstream of that valve, each of these nozzles opening into the channel in the immediate vicinity of a respective high-pressure duct serving to atomize the injected fuel. The atomizer duct for the first nozzle is unblocked under low-load conditions (idling) by a diaphragm-controlled valve responsive to the suction prevailing in the channel beyond the closed butterfly valve.
